Cage or Xenakis you are not. This is not as interesting as you seem to think this is. Both compositionally and ascetically this is trite, banal, and shallow.....sorry
I know you're probably just screwing around, but this is demeaning to aleatoric music and the avant-garde in general. People hear ANY "strange" sound and automatically use buzz words like atonal, 12 tone, aleatoric, and avant-garde. This is a problem because now people just sort of brush off anything that sounds "strange" to them.
@saladshootavvv Uh... I don't think you understand what aleatoric means, because while atonal and 12-tone do not describe this at all, aleatoric is a good way of describing this music.
I think this is interesting and all, but aleatoric music would be more useful as a tool or catalyst for writing other music.
Rather than doing another verse/chorus/verse with C, G, D chords for the millionth time... use some random "music" as a nucleus for a song, or a way to change direction mid-way through a piece of music.
aleatoric music is chance music....basically u can spot it by the sense that it makes no sense it's notes which have been randomly picked and the played it that same order
argh!!! same here...music exam 2morrow...i hav absolutely no clue wat aleatoric music is meant to be! how are we meant 2 spot it?! :S well good luck anyways!
I have my GCSE music exam tomorrow and one of the things sure to come up is aleatoric music. I don't mean to be narrow minded, but how on earth can you call this music? When does music stop being music and become just sound? Is sound always music? I'm just confused how something which involves no musical skill can be featured at a fairly basic level of music knowledge, such as GCSE
you have to stop thinking of music from a classical sense, its not about writing a composition but discovering how chance can create music. There are mments in this video which sound very musical even though they happened at random. Music is always sound, sound isnt always music Though with a little imagination any sound can become music
good effort
