Descent 3 Level 5

I was the guy everyone hated to play against online in the first one. I could fly just the right way to be able to dodge the feared Mega Missile. It's true the second was cool too but by the time the third came out the appeal and coolness was gone.

i first played descent 1 when i was 4 years old. i remember being dizzy because of the first person view and scared out of my mind. god, the nostalgia

Just a few questions as I never played Descent 3 ...

1. Is it better than Forsaken?

2. Will it fly on a VooDoo 2 or should I install my Geforce 3Ti?

I got the game and after playing a few seconds I got such a headache I stopped and removed the game. After all those graphics are not good anymore.

@Moratorium dude... the gfx sucks compared to today's games but that's not why you'd play this. You play it cause you loved it when it came out and the fact nothing else today is like this! And cause you're a geek. Not saying you are one, but if you are that's a reason too.

@0Jebus0 Frequent change of perspective causes nausea. Additionally controlling the ship is hard. I played it using maxed out graphics and it really seems like a waste of time nowadays. I can literally gain more by going out and socializing and I am not saying that to bragg or presume people who play that have no life. I say that because sozializing is actually more fun than playing this game. The surrounding makes you depressed. Somewhere in space. No humans. Never-ending tunnels. A nightmare.

@Moratorium Haha, didn't expect that kind of answer but I hear ya. Real people > fictious robots in space. I personally never felt nauseous when playing it though I know sometimes people do. And I'd only play this if I had nostalgic memories from it.. although I am surprised nothing like this has been done since afaik..

@0Jebus0 Nothing like this has been done because of the very reasons I listed. People want people around them. Or something that seems to have lived once(Silent Hill). Having robots around, nothing familar, being in a compound which seems to never end. Silent Hill is a nightmare, too, but it is a positive nightmare. Descent is a nausea creating nightmare which leaves me with a very uncomfortable feeling.

Man, some of the texture res seem like they almost look as good as what's shown on NGC and Xbox. This game was way ahead of its time in many ways.

I played descent 1 and 2 but never seen 3 grapchis got a big upgrade thats for sure looks nice (for a 1999 game)

try updating your drivers? or downgrading them? some times some games don't run right on newer drivers. especially older games.

Descent 3 runs fine for me, I'm on XP. maybe you need a better machine, what are your specs? I have an Athalon XP ~ 1.8ghz, Radeon 9800, 1gig of ram, normally for Vista you need a dual core cpu, Geforce 7 or higher/Radeon HD, and 1.5gigs or higher ram.

instead of fraps you should use hypercam it saves memory space (so it can upload faster and play faster)

Yeah, D3 is more multi-objective based than blow a reactor and run for your life! Although i wished when the timer went to 0 that the explosion shockwave flowed though the mine instead of the screen fade to white. That way, you have a few extra seconds before you get caught in the shockwave to escape.

level10 problem: PATCH IT!

solution problem: stand into the whole through which robots come from in the main hall and you only need to make a pile of scrapmetal... thats all ... you should have 3-4 reactors alive at the end...

This is a bug in Mercenary. Patch the game to v1.4 to fix the problem.

This level is pretty hard! You have to keep some reactors from getting destroyed by the invading robots. If too many where destroyed it was game over.
