Every spring my neighborhood is full of cars with bird shit accumulation below the rear view mirrors because robbins spend so much time perched there.

eww.. have a red bird attacking my mirror I noticed today. Thought it was funny but no way am I letting it get to that point. Maybe I go buy a pellet gun unless someone knows of a less harmful way of getting it away from my car before it decides to make it a hang out point.

I agree with bike. That is an American Robin, probably a male. They will attack rivals, even rivals that are their own reflection in glass. One did that before to the office window at my doctor's office. He would fly at the window, and he would either peck at it or try to go through it to chase away the other bird he saw in it.

Perhaps the bird just realized the car makes a good sound when pecking it. I think they use that sound as a signal.
