@song7791, no, you've got that wrong. Instead it's not wise for ANY politician, be they GOP or Dem, to go against the wishes of the overwhelming majority of voters OPPOSED to the DReam Act, or anything else for illegal aliens, except stiff fines and deportation.

Apparently McCain learnt his lesson in time that, if he wants to stay in office, he must NOT support the Dream Act. And his vote yesterday was proof.

The dream act is a nightmare act for Americans. How can you reward some one from breaking federal laws? it would be like spitting on the people that are waiting in line for their citizenships. Professior Garcia does not know what he is talking about, he lives in the Chicano 60s movement still. Ask Profssor of economics Larry Kotlikoff from the University of Boston. He states, "if there is another influx of immigrants the country would go bankrupt. It is simply unsustainable". Food for thought.

Folks from both aisles must compromise. Students should earn their residence but no free money and they can't request status for other relatives. If activists who are pro-dream act take this approach, it will much easier to pass this bill. I guarantee you that most Americans, specially conservatives like myself would be willing to support a bill that breaks the chain of illegal immigration but helps those students who are attending school.

The DREAM ACT gives eligibility to proven students that have graduated and attended or are attending college. Any kind of criminal act disqualifies them.

The DREAM ACT is also known as the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act. This addresses the tragedy of young people who grew up here but whose status has expired due to unfortunately circumstances such as the loss of parents and or relatives.
