Actually there are two Becker's that I know of and they still carry jug mile. One at Sheppard and Birchmount? (or somewhere) and one at Port Union and Lawson.
Open 9 to 11. That's crazy for a variety store these days. Even if you aren't 24 hours, you still would open by 7 at the latest. I miss Becker's stores.
Those jugs of milk & all those uniquely Becker's products. I remember riding my bike to Becker's countless times. Sometimes to buy milk & often for those popsicles. Another Canadian one that slipped away into defunct Canadian history.
There was a Becker's up the street from me when I was a kid. They unfortunately went the way of the local Knob Hill Farms - they couldn't shake that "skeezy, past-its-prime" image.
It's too bad. I used to get banana popsicles from there every week.
