There is no best AV. There are ones better than others, but they always change so its impossible to have a definite best AV. Nod32 is good but can be beaten.
hey,i need ur help my computer now using avast 5 ,it seems slow my startup abit, computer abit, and internet abit,u recommended any does'nt slow me down antivirus and spyware removers on demand, coz my computer cannot use malwarebytes any other programs?
The "mystery" about the little button to the left of the x was to pin the pop up so it wouldn't go anywhere; at least that is what it looked like to me, but I've only used avast once a few years ago; so what do I know?
Cudgelwap,i've subscribe...How many processes does Avast runs in background...as far as i know w/ it's former version it runs 7,and it slowed my computer..
They are both pretty good. I believe that Avast has the upper edge, but overall I consider them comparable. The big win for Avast is all the extra shields.
Cudgelwap, what AV & Firewall do you exactly use? I heard in the video Online Armor w/ Avira. Are you using the free or paid versions? Thanks, itzjaws.
I know, I specifically said that I wanted to test on default because most users don't go in there and change the settings. Even without PUP Avast will detect rogues though. PUP wouldn't have helped there.
Avira's updating makes me mad!!!(This one I don't know)
Avg resourses eating makes me fooled!!!(For new computers better)
Avast 5.0 I think is light and effective enough for me :)
By the way avast behavior shield enter in action during installations of applications if there is strage behavior of files or when you put your flash/pen drive in your computer :)
Please watch my AVG free review. It has been long regarded as the antivirus with the worst detection rate. It has no rootkit prevention (a must in todays world) and is quite weak at removal. I recommend that you find an alternative.
Avira 10 free will not have a web guard. That is practically Avira's only selling point on the pro version. They aren't planning on adding it. It still can be a winner though.
So, after more personnal few (only 2 urls!) test with zero day malware, Avast 5 have let passed (with max setting) another nastie: a rootkit MBR (after it had let passed an ACTIVE TDSS) and it can't remove... Also the scan is safe mode don't work on my WM... It looks good and fast and of course it's difficult to fight against zero day malwares... but i feel the protection is not suffisant for me, but it's only my opinion ;) Also, the the scan is so slow...
Really the avast improve a lot unlike the previous one that is depended to its virus database. Now avast 5 have heuristics, behavior control, and anti spyware. Even the detection of malware or viruses are improved it is not that with alarm makes the user suprised. Good work avast, and Good review
108 MB on space disk yeah but still really low on RAM. Do you prefert that its slow your pc like Kaspersky or you prefert its be low and silent ? I think low and silent is the best combination. Also i notice no slow down here. Its run fine.
a very good show, thx for this job, avast 5 is a full free antivirus version , many languages (german to) i m interested on the quality of scanengine, hope you make a second check next time ..? I think about on a double scan work with threatfire+avast5-engines on my computer, vista wind. premium... what do you think about my idea ? .. greetings from germany
I don't know whether Avast is good or not. I just installed it today and replaced MSE. But I don't like so far one thing - Avast 5 seems to slow down internet browsing with enabled web shield. Besides it's size has 108.57MB. Quiet big.
hi! nice vids but: i have tested Avast5 myself before i saw this video (only few hours after you) ... The BSOD seems to be caused by TDSS rootkit family (the H8SRTd.sys drivers you see in BSOD), i had a same BSOD. Malwarebytes found 32 infections (that avast scan miss) after my own test (tdss rootkit, trj downloader, rogues, exploit of usernit(!) ) etc... Cudglewap1 you should done a quick scan with MBAM like languy99 to have a better idea how perform really the soft. bye
mbam is can detect HARMLESS cookies, but avast already get rid of the nasty ones.. cookies are also detected by mbam as infections BUT they are harmless.. nothing more..
Hi, where are you read i speak about cookies? Are you thinking TDSS is a coockie lol? I'm not saying Avast is very bad... only it have not perform as well as this video with my own test with fresh url. That all ;) Bye
I've got to say Avast! has really improved and i say that it did excellent for a free AV and i bet the Avast Internet Security is a very good product i hope you test that too! Besides that pathetic BSOD.
Its warning sound is less scarier than the previous version.

the EPIC fail about avast is that the PUP detection isnt automatically on. thats why the rouge worked
