This whole game was such a masterpiece. When I played this part, the first bit of the microwave hallway where Snake could just stagger/walk made me think 'This won't be so bad.' Then the doors kept opening showing there was more to go through, and I had to push triangle faster and faster to keep Snake moving. I literally shouted at my TV 'COME ON SNAKE, DON'T DIE.' Very little has a videogame made me care that much about a character.

Suppose the point of it was that this was Snake's destiny/final mission, it HAD to be him to finish it. The MKIII wouldn't have made it to the microwave room anyway on it's own, and Snake couldn't stay outside the Microwave room and let the MKIII go through, as they didn't know what would be on the other side (traps, etc.). Plus he couldn't go back as Raiden was still fighting the FROGs.

That's my analysis of it anyway :)

Microwaves are a good weapon because it affect only a limited number of things, one of them being the human body.

The entire game focuses on Snake's deterioration. As you play, you realize that this is Snake's final battle, it becomes apparent why as you crawl through the chamber and his suit tears away in the microwave. Otocon's voice begging the war torn hero not to let himself die, because everything depends on Snake's making it through that hall.

As the sequence starts, you control Snake with the L stick,he begins to collapse, you have to tap triangle,you almost feel how far he is pushing his body.

NO! Microwaves would not of killed snake quickly because the Octocamo was designed as a muscle suit and to prevent masses of heat waves. Microwaves cook the inside of humans bodies & what it does it clumps the red blood cells together & disallows the blood cells to travel to brain etc. But the Octocamo suit prevents this from happening but leaving snakes head exposed is dangerous. But it is easiest the best moment of gaming.

yeah, you would most definitely die after only a few seconds of exposure to powerful high-frequency microwaves... however, the chamber was designed not to be fatal to Snake, but to let him believe he was going against Liquid Ocelot's intentions. This is revealed at the end, when Snake asks him why he didnt stop him. Remember? I agree that the scene was scientifically inaccurate, and that for a game it was laughably un-interactive, but it still is one of the best gameplay sequences i have seen!
