i would custom fab something to get rid of the Y pipe and run true duals.... you get that "snort" to it that way... i also had an H pipe between the pipes and two glasspacks. on my NEW (87) truck i cheaped out and went with the Y pipe and added a glasspack but its just not the same as duals and thats WITH a cam in it
@Mikey31514, yeah im currently building a SA 5.8 for it, .30 over, mild crane cam (444232), 1.7RR, gt40p's and a few other little things. True duals, as much as i'd like to run em, it would be tough to work inbwteen/around the transfer, frame and drive shaft on the drivers side
@KLaughery18, would love to especially with the new 5.8 i have in the works but theres no room for the H with the drive shaft angle and where the transfer is in relation to the frame. was actually just looking at how i couls squeeze an H pipe in there but i dont think i can.
@123ewq put true duals on my 88' 5.0.. should be the same setup. heart throb makes a kit. NO h or x pipe but im sure you can custom fab some up.. kit is cheap, doesnt come with mufflers so throw a cross over witha nice set of flowmasters all well under 400$
@LegendMuscle, thanks im on there site now and i see they have kits for 3" headers which is what i got, i'm just wonderin where you bought your kit or if you have a site for it pm me because i dont see anythin for 302 or 351w, f150, f250 or f350's.
yea it is a little quiet aint it...mine is pretty loud but thats due to not having a pipe or muffler. exhaust ends at the cat. there is also a leak on the manifold due to a missing bolt. mine is a 87 F150 with the 5.8 4 speed auto 4x4
did i just catch a glimpse of a straight axle in the front and not a ttb? if so, whoever set this truck up knew what they were doing if they wanted to go wheeling.
@Slipknotyk06 They are a much smoother ride (The TTB i mean). there not as sturdy however because they tend to bow out over time. and like you say, more maintenance. it is a pain in the ass to put a straight axle in tho
@DaveyCooter - It's only really more maintenance because ball joints wear a little quicker and alignments can come out of adjustment as a consequence. Other than that, stock TTB on my Ranger held against everything I threw at it. I never replaced my ball joints in 40,000 miles (from 196K-236K). My Ranger's TTB held up wonderfully. I had a Cherokee with a straight axle that didn't even hold up as well.
Good looking truck. Kinda like mine. I have a 1997 F350 with a 460 in it. I have a few videos of it on here. I run a dual in dual out flowmaster super 40. but might change them out later on. but very clean truck man! keep it that way!! maybe later on get some aluminum wheels and maybe some new paint, she'll look great!
@TempleOfDogg that filter has the 2 holes for the throttle body and one smaller hole for the breather. go to fullsizebronco(dot)com and search for the ghetto fab intake. something should pop up.
You need to put 2 1/4 in pipe, with an 8" cherrybomb glasspack. i have dual 8" cherrybomb glasspacks and they are louder than the extreme. I have a 351windsor v8 in my ford truck.
@123ewq hell yea!!! if thats not loud enough for you, burn a cd of v8 exhaust sounds and blast it through the speakers oh and i got this same motor im about to stick in my mustang with a twin turbo setup do you recomend it?
hey, u wanna make that baby bark?? u gotta cut out that y pipe and run true duals from your headers back, then slip on some 12" glasspacks with a 90 degree angle pipe on both then some extensions or tips out the sides infront of the tires...you will hear it then.
Hey kid, i got an 89 f250 a lot like this one, mines an xlt lariat, gray interior, painted it black on the outside, has offset chrome rims, just to give you a visual of it. you seriously do not want to drill holes in your headers, these trucks have a big problem if you cut holes in the exhaust cuz it will funnel right into the cab and you do not want that, when i bought mine the previous owner cut holes in the headers that were on it and ive had to repair it cuz the fumes were terrible.
@DaveyCooter, haha, yeah i was just kiddin when i mentioned that. Ill probably wait till this exhaust rusts up and then run some duals through an X pipe. Sounds like you got a nice truck your self.
@123ewq thats funny that you mention that. i run 3" duals off of Bassani Equalength shorty headers, into a 3" off road h-pipe back to flowmaster super 44s then over the axle and out at 45 degrees out the back. if you redo ur exhaust id recommend using tubing 3" or bigger. i get quite a bit of power with that. what do you get for gas milage out of your truck?
dude put oil in you cherry bomb it will make it just like a straight pipe the oil eats the resin inside that makes it quite it will be loud i did it on my 76 ford highboy
Hey man, I got pretty much the same truck but it's a 92 and it has a 6 inch lift as well. I remember you saying something about your isn't loud enough. If you wanna make it louder run true duals with two 12 inch glasspacks. It'll give it a mean sound and run pretty good! Truck is coming along well, good luck!
did u put the lift on, do u know if u have to extend the drive shaft im lookin to lift my f150 6" also but i dont know if i would have to extend the shaft
@95f150eddie, i didnt put the lift in myself (i would have but i bought the truck with the lift already on), however, i am almost positive that you do NOT have to get a larger driveshaft. you will need a larger drop pitman and extended brake lines and what not (but that should all come with the kit). Your driveshaft should be fine.
sounds fine to me. not too loud not too queit. I have a 97 f350 with a 460 and I had true dual 20 inch glass packs. wayyy too loud for me. I got a dual in dual out flowmaster super 40 and it sounds way better. just like a big block mustang. but nice truck man. take care of it
nice truck! i have a 94 f-250 with the same problem- looks like the bolt heads have rusted away and the manifold is pulling away from the head. when i fix it it i will probably bolt the stock manifold back on because most of my attention goes to my 78 f-250 4x4.
@OLDTIMES116, it could have been there at some point. This is in middlebury CT, the person before me who had it was also in middlebury and that guy bought it from a close friend. not sure where else its been. What were some specific details on your rig and i'll see if they're the same on mine? haha

your truck sounds nice, what tires do you have, 35's? The exhaust is a bit quieter than it sounds in the video, still nice though. Thanks for the comment!
Ive got 31" BFG A/Ts at the moment (theyre much smaller then i can run, but luckily it doesnt look weird) but when i get the cash i plan on rollin on some 35 or 37(if theyll fit) inch Thornbirds or Baja Claws. I bought a 28" glasspack today because they were on sale, puttin it on this weekend!
Yeah, on the ford-trucks site i've seen some people run 37's with minor trimming, not much flex but they will fit, you also got to take a look at the size of the 37" and 35" tire. Different tires run different sizes, for example the 40in ground hawg tire measures only 38.5" and the 38" tsl runs 37.6in. Depending on what 37's you'd get they might fit pretty well. Good luck with the glass pack, are you gunna gut the cats?
Im leavin the cats on for the moment just because i have to pass emissions hahaha, but i might cut them eventually, it depends how it sounds really. but i think either way itll sound pretty good, but il just have to see. Yeah, ive noticed that, its weird how the tire sizes arent universal, im actually thinking of going with interco because they actually make a "36" with some of their lines.

@BShoulla i dont think so, the lift was on when i bought the truck, and my front driveshaft is aftermarket, but i dont think so because you mainly just increase the drive shaft angle rather than lengthenning it. you will need atleast an aftermarket extended droppitman arm and extened brake lines but not sure what else. (of course bigger shocks and some steering stabilzers but not sure what else, hope that helped a little, ha.)
I have to say that I don't like the sound while at idle but when you come on to it it sounds good. Steering stabilizers is something I'd like to do some day. In what way do you feel they helped?
@natescamp, yeah, im not a big fan of much of the sound it makes now, you can hardly hear it from inside, yikes! It felt a little more responsive and easier to turn the wheel, alot less effort, but i was really looking to help the wander of my steering which i was hoping it would help. The stabilizers were real cheap, maybe 35 each i think. I'm going to do the tie rod end in a couple weeks/months, maybe once it get a little warmer.
