this song is hands down one of the most emotional songs ever written . The guy who talks about bands.. what about bowie? what about the smiths? OH well ... PInk floyd too. People who like good music know who the best artists are . IMHO the smiths are the best band of the 80´s and the beatles the greatest ever , and as for U2 they belogn in the list for the best bands too.
Met Bonoand the band by chance here in Vancouver back in 90 91 ? no bigger than doorway persona just... Cool invited them to come to my night @ The Twilight Zone Bono signed my ticket the ticket that I gave to my girlfriend and said Quote "Honestly man thanks for the offer but after tonight we are on a plane tomorrow to our next gig and just want to chill after the concert but i appreciate the offer , it did not feel like the brush off...just honesty as he shook my hand. U2 fan since 81
Best band of all time? Can't go there, there is some incredible company... But clearly the best band of past 30 years and one of the 10 greatest, most iconic of all time.
Beetles, Rolling Stones, ABBA, U2, Fleetwood Mac, Queen... Damn right U2 belongs on that list.
You can go a long time without hearing any song on this album, and still be able 2 sing every word. I don't care what the U2 haters say, this is probably one of the best rock albums of all time.
Solid album pure classic gold every song is amazing this is one of the albums you get drawn too. The one album you dont skip tracks on. "I still havent found what im looking for" is my all time favorite. This whole album gives me chills my irish descent pride comes out!! blast this on my ipod!!
My son is named after this album, Was either Joshua or T'pau, I preferred Joshua, although his younger sister Band aid was, and still is confused...Brilliant album though!!!
Miittle. you are not the only one, it's a song that penetrates you and vibrate every fiver of the inner you. and it's association with the waves cycle the your body can receive and sense.
Reminds me of driving to Bell Mountain to go dirt biking with my Pops when I was little. We had this album on cassette cranked up in his Ford Camper Special Pickup!
@roxfoeva it doesnt. i am just saying that they are not gay, so they couldnt be a gay player. actually i just said that because i love U2 and i fucking hate cronaldo, it made me sick when i saw that U2 was like him
My all time favorite group. They started out amazing and now they have just transcended into true legend. Even bigger than the Beatles. I love everything they do and have enjoyed my teen years well up into my 40's listening to their music and anticipating what they will do next.
hands of steel...so powerful of lyrics,,iam a roughneck in oklahoma.love U2 music and the same of my work..a hard day going home listening to this album tells me just how wonderful it is to be alive another day...after 12 hours..in the heat of this summer...iAM APACHESNOW

Incredible song from an incredible record. The soundtrack of my life, this record came out in my senior year in high school. My girlfriend and I would sit in this old swing chair on her parents porch listening to this during the summer of 1987. I still vividly remember those long warm nights listening to this. There are certain moments in life that really leave an impression, this song and that summer will forever be with me.
its up there with with or without you, sheer brilliance. they,re not business men as some may say but genuine gods of music. hopefully they will continue to deliver.
This really is a fantastic album. I think I listened to this in my car for about a year after I got it. Every track seems better than the last. Without a doubt their best effort and it puts them up there with Zeppelin and the Stones.
Dude, I don't know what the hell just happened...
I hadn't listen to this song in yeeears, and now I listened and I started to cry in every single chorus... This never happens to me! I think this is just amazing music. O.O
Did they have a clue??? Did they KNOW...while recording this album how EFFIN' AWESOME it was gonna be????? This album changed the way i listened to music forever....
i have seen the destruction of a logging/railroad town firsthand this song brings back so many memories i lived in coastal california and my mom had joshua tree on vinyl the logging and railroad companies going bankrupt my dad making minimum wage and eating whatever we could hunt with our old .22 rifle
The songwriting on this record surpasses anything they have done since, the magic that was captured on this album is felt on every song, a masterpiece of music to last forever.
@bigringabuser I get chills listening to the whole album.....it shaped my perception of music forever.....I was 15 when it was released and I will never forget my first time hearing it.......
@bigringabuser wow, i was just gonna comment about my "chills" i get after all these years even hearing this song a million times!!! the whole second side of this album actually!
The last good album the band made. Before Bono began to think that his oppinion means more than music. A pity they didn't make any good music after this album. They had such potential.
I love how U2 moves you with their music. Their not like so many other bands where every album sounds the same, and while I do like some of those bands, U2 is in a different league. Every album is different, and they still manage to produce great music.
@emerson24 radiohead the best band of recent times of recreating there sound from album to album and nailing it each time - a very rare thing indeed and quite refreshing the X factor drivin bollix music world we now live in
During a bleak, unadmirable life interval. "She," left. Broke, debt, drinking as a life's necessit. Drinking remorselessly as breathing. Borrowing to drink, and engage other escapist treats. This, In God's Country and A Kind of Homecoming are three beautiful songs by a band on which I woudn't normally piss on if they were on fire.

"Joshua Tree" surely has one of the greatest B-sides in rock history, as is evidenced by this song.
