  • Some western riders ride like crap, some english riders ride like crap. Some english riders are snobby, some western riders are snobby. By the way it's not the saddle on the horses back that makes the horse miserable, it's the person in the saddle that makes the horse miserable.

  • Every english rider I've every met acts like a prissy bitch....what's that say

  • Western people ride like crap.

  • @fessibleu really? no western people are skilled english people are snobby and just have to be perfect. Compare a english and a western horse ! english horses look miserable and when you look at a western horse they are just having fun dont be jelous that you cant ride like us western people k? k.

  • But, Dream Boy (the horse I ride) was acting weird. He was really fast. I was walking, then he just went to galloping!

Galloping: fastest riding, that's what racers and barrel racers do!

He was so fast! I almost fell off, but I stopped him. My trainer had to put him on a rope (lunging) to gallop him. He was bucking and snorting and was galloping super fast!

  • SHELBY!!!AWESOM!!!U CUD SOOOO KICK MY ASS BARREL RACING...U LOOK AWESOM!!!

hint:i play the drums a helluva lot better than i ride (hee hee) hava great day shelby and i love this video!!!peace.

  • ilove ur horse my favorite part was when you almost knocked over the barell but saved it.......good job..love it

  • she is encourage the horse, perhaps a little too hard

  • @IrissMulaa i agree...she could not kick so much

  • But anyway, thanks everyone for your opinions! There is nothing wrong with disliking something, there is always going to be Negative Nancys out there but I stay positive! So thanks again! -Shelby

  • Hi this is Shelby Seegers, I am the one in the two videos of the barrel racing, I lost all my information for my previous accounts so I had to make a new one, I don't really check this that much but I would like to say thank you to everyone for all the compliments and advice! And for the negative ones I'm sorry I'm not perfect. Sonny and I have come a long way and I'm so thankful to have him. I know we aren't the best (by far) but we also aren't the worst. So thanks everyone!

  • Also, yes I ride with spurs. They have no spikes, just bumpers. Often people think barrel racing and rodeo is cruel, but I have to disagree. I have been in the atmosphere my whole life & have seen very few cases of animal cruelty. & yes I kick hard, but I have never left cuts, marks, lumps or anything on his sides. Horses are tough, a lot tougher then you think. Sure, Animal Planet & Discovery Channel might disagree with what I say but everyone needs to see it first hand before they speak.

  • @Misshelby00 way to reply...with dignity and knowledge to the naysayers that are lookin to insult.

  • have you ever heard of inside leg?

  • @ninjapurplepanda1626 I have, but Sonny is an automatic horse and has never needed it. But lately I have been having to give him a slight tap before the first barrel. But thank you for the advice! :)

  • prettiest third barrel ever:))

  • i LOVE palominos in pink sooo cute

  • Anyone who is down talking this girls riding, I wanna see you try barrel racing and win without kicking. Everyone that made a comment like that knows nothing about horses or rides english, so shut your pie holes because it's harder than it looks and takes more than a click of your tongue!

  • i HATE barrel racing and horse racing. just not my thing

  • @LoveMitchelMusso92 Might I adive do other events than? I don't like dressage and pleasure. So I don't do them. I don't get why you feel the need to HATE them but I guess if you feel so strongly you should probably avoid watching youtube videos of barrel racing.

  • @LoveMitchelMusso92 then why watch this???

  • @LoveMitchelMusso92 Well, I'm sorry you feel that way and thank you for voicing your opinion! There is nothing wrong with disliking something

  • I am hunter jumper.

This video is great! I'm just not used to seeing legs and arms flailing in the air! XD

  • @WillowandStorm honestly..ive seen barrel racers that are very still..im sorry but i hate seeing arms flailing..dont care what disipline it is...it makes the bit hit the horses in the mouth and can hurt them..ive seen barrel horses with the insides of their mouths all cut up from this..

  • @rainnovice93

I totally agree! I have seen other vids where horses get too annoyed with getting pulled on in the mouth, and they rear up and fall backwards!

  • great video but may I say a flaw? I would recommend making only the turns slow motion and the rest normal! :)

  • awesome!

  • Wow you have a great talent ;)

  • @kuggebodaalexan Yeah, that horse sure can run.

  • nice

  • meraviglioso!!!!

  • @makala291 also the video is in slow motion so it is going to look like she is kicking so hard. But you have to kick. Sometimes horses are trained that as soon as they turn third barrel they run but others sometimes need a little encouragement! So get it through ur head that it's okay to kick a horse in barrel racing! It's the way it's done!

PS not everyone uses spurs! I don't.

  • @oldkeystone I know exactly what I am talking about. I don't like barrels bit I like pole bending. I don't kick the crap out of mare anyways. And btw she is a Belgian quarter horse and I won overall high point and I never kicked her as hard as she did. You can just shutup!!

  • 424kilebar you have now idea what you are talking about it dose make them go faster all you people tat dont rodeo think it is aabuse SHUT UP!!!!!!it is fine so shut up your just jelus you cant ride that good.

  • @oldkeystone Some parts of rodeo are abusive. Barrel racing and pole bending are awesome, but all the "tough guy" events (calf wrestling, bronc riding, etc.) are dangerous for the humans and abusive to the animals.

  • wow really good job

  • She's liven my dream.

  • Man hate barrel racing. Jamming you legs and spurs into your horses sides isn't riding. It's abuse. Kicking isn't going to

Make them go any faster then they are now!!

  • @424kilebar I understand what your saying but theres strict rules for barrel racers, spurs have to be blunt, this is also one of the only times a horse has the oppertunity that it can go as fast as it likes, without restrictions! even if thats not convincing that it dosnt hurt have you seen some enlish riders, booting their horse to jump, or restricting movement for dressage or puttng glass in boots so a horse gets hurt for knocking a rail.... this isnt half as bad as some riders...

  • @jodzandhat i know. i dont ride english any more. and i hate dressage and jumping with a passion because someone will do anything to the horse just to win. i hate that. i do gymkhanas and little shows. but i do western only mostly because all my horses buck and i have forgotten everything about english. i am glad that spurs can only be blunt now!!

  • @424kilebar this is Shelby, just to make a few corrections. yes, I ride with spurs and I push him all the way. BUT, my spurs have no spikes. They are stubbed with tape wrapped around them for that exact reason. Some people may be able to use sharp spurs but I can't find it in my heart to do it. I treat my horse like a champ, he's my best friend and I would never do anything to harm him. But thanks for your time!

  • I'm a barrel racer and I know for a fact if you want to get anywhere you have to kick your horse. You don't look at World Champion barrel racers not kicking their horses. Plain and simple. This girl is amazing and has a bright future. It doesn't hurt them whatsoever. It's like saying "Hey, this is what we're doing, keep you head in the game buddy!"

  • @Bugsykittty Hi, this is Shelby. I've lost all my information on my previous account. Thank you so much! It's so nice to see people who understand

  • OMG i have the exact same saddle!

  • fucking cow for kicking her horse that much

  • @makala291 she was NOT kicking him your legs fly up like that from the horses momentum and you kick towards the back anyways.

  • @AmericanPitbulls1 ball i do barrel racing some times and my legs dont move she is kicking her horse

  • @makala291 are you freaking kidding me? You're making a big deal over her kicking her horse.

  • @makala291 Really now. Your legs don't move. Are you walking your horse through the barrels?

  • @TheWirdbird they move but not like that i dont slam my horses sides i dont touch my horses sides with my legs that is what i ment for god sake if you people cant see she is kicking her horse you are blind ok fuck of :)

  • @makala291 This is Shelby from the previous video, I created a new account due to the fact that I lost all my information on the first one! But yeah I kick my horse, I actually push him all the way. But when I get off, there are no cute, marks, lumps or anything. Sonny is treated like a king, I would never do anything to harm him. But thanks for your time!

  • @makala291 it's barrel racing . you kick your horse . get over it .

  • @makala291 you obviously have never ran barrels before. Shut up and take your rude comments else where.

  • @SPerformanceH0rses why dont you. I have done barrels and it is a rule in my riding we do not kick our horses at all. so you shut up you thing it is ok to kick an animal like that? i know horses with broken ribs because of this ok

  • @makala291 I'm not seeing anything wrong with the way this girl is riding? She's a fantastic rider with a great future, and I see no reason to be rude to her. People have different ways of riding and that's that. A horse would NOT get a broken rib because of this. we can't kick them HALF as hard as the other horses would kick them in the field.

  • @makala291 really?

This isn't your horse, so she can ride him however she would like.

You have no reason to criticize her riding. I don't know anyone that doesn't kick their horses, when they're roping, running barrels/poles or goat tying. There's a difference between kicking and pounding the crap out of her. She's not trying to knock the breath out of them or break a rib, she's simply kicking. Stop with your rude comments.

  • @SPerformanceH0rses poeple generally are posting comments due to not knowing the rules... they think that the spurs are sharp etc....

  • @SPerformanceH0rses I don't kick, yank or whip my horse going around barrals I use what is known as a High trained form of leg aids so I reallly do have more control over my horse and they can be compleatly balanced because I'm not yanking there head around (:

  • @SPerformanceH0rses nice horse though and Its nice she did not have spurs on .

  • Comment removed

  • @makala291 I've never seen any horses with broken rides, ESPECIALLLLLY not mine. Be treated like you want to be treated, that is my rule. Put it this way, if i was a 1200 pound horse I'm almost positive a 100 pound girl kicking wouldn't bother me. I use spurs but they are stubbed and I've also vet wrapped & taped them. Oh & this is shelby from the videos, I almost forgot to mention that lol but thank you for your time!

  • when you kicked da horse were you meaning to do the splits no offence

  • @Alessiboy23 It is the momentum of the horse that kicks your legs up like that especially when you are going fast and the horse is bumpin your butt up and down haha

  • @Alessiboy23 lol yes I do, I push him to his limit and he does the same for me.

  • It's so interesting seeing this horse is slow motion! It would have been you if you had included the normal version, but I still love this!

  • haha at i think around 0:54 when u were kicking the horse it luked like u were doin the splits =]

  • nice save on the second barrel!!! dont see too many riders that can correct their leg position half way around a barrel!

  • @evapleska everyone has their own thoughts. But, dont be saying its cruel before you see the connection 90% of western riders have with their horses. Its definently not cruel. My appy is so freakin spoiled its unreal.

  • i'm dorry but I hate western riding.. :( it's so cruel....

  • @evapleska I'm sorry but as a western rider I take offense to that.I barrel race and you woud not believe how many people actually get off of thei horses hug their necks and then hand them a treat. Also, I have 11 horses of which 3 are futurity colts and 6 are barrel horses. Let me tell you that theses horses are spoiled so fricken rotten that it ain't funny, so think before you speak as my language teacher would always say.

  • @zorrosperfection2000 I agree completely! I have a box of pop tarts (Sonny's favorite) in my trailer that I give him after every run. Most barrel horses live the life, but thank you so much for standing up for it! It's so nice to know people have the same mindset as myself!

  • Wow, Your horses stride is incredible!

  • where did you get that horse?

  • Impressive! Good job, and you did wonderfully after he/she slid on the first barrell! What RuffianForever said as well, keep on racing! Your very talented.
