Most play metal because its all they can play. BTBAM plays everything because they were born to play, and it just so happens they love Metal. There is a big difference. They are amazing and will never get the amount of credit they deserve for what they actually create.
The reason I love this band so much, is they're not just like any old band, who take basic music components and stick 'em together to make a generic "metal song" no. These guys sit down and record for hours, and they know what they're doing too. And it's so enjoyable too, my girlfriend and I had our first kiss to this song a couple years ago, so thank you BTBM for making such great music. :)
I feel like I'm listening to a "play song samples" list on Amazon, except each of the samples leads nicely into the next because they each begin/end in corresponding keys. I'm not saying it's bad. I mean it's interesting to say the least. I just find it hard to get into something that's so inconsistant. It's like a Picasso painting. It took either a lunatic or a true genius to make this.

If you listen to let's say "All Bodies", your first thought is, "wow these guys just threw a bunch of stuff in there and made it a song..." but that's not it! This is my favorite song by BTBAM. As a guitarist, they make me rage quit half the time when i can't learn their songs. Probably because all of them graduated with multiple degrees in multiple instruments from Julliard :P
@hophoopine perfection is not always a good thing. in this case, this band's technicality actually turns me off of them. sure, they know their way around their instruments but in my head, i hear about fifteen of sixteen different snippets of overly-practiced scale riffs thrown together with the occasional slow strumming to make themselves seem more deep than their music is. you can go on about how technical they are, but technicality is shallow. i do not get an emotion from this music.
@krich451 yea you're right about perfection because perfection is a subjective word. perfection means different things to different people. and technicality is shallow if it has no emotion in it.
@AweAttack That's great for you. I love these guys. I've seen these guys live and they put on a great show, my emotion? Excitement and joy. Paul's guitar melody's are masterful. I guess it's an acquired taste.
