This guy BLUEGOOSE I guess obviously isn't a harmonica player because he would know that WIlliam Clarke was not copying anyone. He has more orgininals on his cd's than most harmonica players and they are all GREAT tunes. He never playied a tune the same way...ever, he always changed. How can that be copying???? I know that everyone has opions, but saying that William Clarke tried to sound like Rod is just crazy. William had his own style and strived for that. ..
Hey I never said anything about copying..or trying to sound like Piazza. I've played harmonicas since I was 13 in 1969 (so what?)....a 5 year old could discern the similarities of tone/style etc. I was commenting on one song and I stand by my previous comments 100%. As far as all great blues chromatic players feeding from GS's plate..pure fantasy...
Dan sorry it took so long to answer you. I never knew how to answer stuff on this.. Anayway, there is a dvd out that my daughter sells. Gina's Zone on E-Bay.
Emozionante!Questo è un armonicista vero,a differenza di tanti mediocri che pensano di essere bravi solo perchè suonano al pistoia blues!Keep on bluesin'...
What is so magical about sounding like Piazza?..or should I say George Smith? He did do some great stuff (RIP) I agree with ATS68 about "Lose your life" that was his..he owned that shit...but greatest ever...genius..whoa Nelly!..I'm sure he would have been quite embarrassed by those platitudes.
Him & Piazza are like comparing Apples & Oranges. But make no mistake...they sound completely different...to say the least. Both are great players. But they sound about as much alike as Big Walter
and Little Walter. Now go suck an egg...
As for the George statement: all Great
blues chromatic players fed directly from
the plate. I think Bill's playing is quite unique...to say the least.
Great Bluesman I flew to Sacramento Ca. from South Florida in 1985 to see him I would love to find the album "Rocking the boat" it was recorded in 1983 my favorite song is "Iodine in my coffee"
OH only if Bill still be with us !!!! I did get an DVD files from his widow (nice lady) some time ago and shy said that Bill did not wanted to be filmd so that is not so much of videos of him. William was the best harpman in blues. je I think the gig was in Germany.
Yes, that was a cool tune. I'm William's widow and was jsut checking out comments that were written about the video. He's doing a real good version of that on the Starboard Attitude clip...
The year is 1987. And one year later, in 1988, practically with the same band - the pianist Steve F'Dor was not - was recorded the album "Live in Germany".
ain't nobody ever played like bill or ever will the closest was george smith. if Bill were alive he would say ain't nobody played like george smith i bet. God i love this I've watched it ten times in a row now.
Yea....thats Eddie "lips" on the drums...he was with Bill until the very end...on and off...they had a great way of playing together. This is also Eddie's video segment...he's the one who recorded it.
I am trying to get some information on the guitar player who played on the live in Germany CD with William Clarke???? Any info you have would be great ....thanks
Please, please, please could all harp players listen to this.

Nobody is trying to sound like anyone once u grow into your own. Your
influences cant be denied, but the beauty
is each player has their distinct sound
that is easliy identifiable in their unique
tone & style alone. I understand defending
the term "greatest ever", but some folks
just dont dig deep enough into the well
to have a true understanding of the big
picture. Naa...thats too deep...I'll smoke
some more chronic and be back later.

Regrettably, I never did see Bill Clarke live. He was one for the ages--pure blues harmonica genius. God rest his soul.

This is fabulous. Bill was an amazing talent and the band as ever are absolutely spot on. Watch, listen and learn kiddies.
I would have loved him to finish on the Low F rather than the Bb chrom.
Killer clip.

John Marx he goes by, Markowski is his real name and that's what he used on the Live in Germany CD. Same John Marx as on this video.
You can find a bio as well as his latest album at cdbaby dot com/cd/johnmarx.
