As an American US Marine, and one who has trained and fought in Iraq with the Brits, they are some of the best warriors to have by your side....this bickering is stupid. I have also served with the Canadians and the Aussies...once again, excellent fighting spirit and proud to have served with them anytime, anywhere.

Love doing public order ! . As a serving soldier in HM forces having worked with US troops a lot ,iam also honarary member of the Texas national guard . Iam more than happy to work with these's guys & fight shoulder to shoulder . USforces are huge ! and maybe why lessons learned in theatre are slow to tricle down to the troops training (bureacrates!) .with us very slowly at 1st but now rapidly ours changes almost monthly.However they talk the same language share the danger & bring firepower

Not always. Soviet soldiers fucking sucked during the second world war as far as training goes, but they had a helluva lotta manpower and they beat the shit out of Germany.

Even then, it was still another 9 months until the US entered the war
By the time the US actually joined the war in December '41, Britain had turned the tide in the Battle of the Atlanti with the capture of enigma, kicked the Vichy French out of Syria and Lebanon, crushed an Axis-supported rebellion in Iraq, toppled the pro-Axis Iranian regime, stepped up the bombing campaign and completely kicked the Italians out of East Africa

to be honest mate i should know because im a serving royal marine. you probably got those numbrs from a previous MOD report. but as of now we have only 60,000 british soldiers, two thousand royal marines, 180 RAF regiment soldiers and 112 RAF pilots and 212 military police serving in afghanistan as of now. we have 7,000 royal marines at the moment, you got to remember six hundred men join the RMC every year so the number always rises and drops.

Britain saved its own arse, not the US. By the time Lend Lease kicked in March 41' (19 months after the start of the war and 9 months after Britain was lft totally alone) Britain had endured 8 months ot the Blitz, won the Battle of Britain, gave the Italians are battering in North Africa, turned the tide against th Italian's in East Africa, started the bombing campaign of Germany and started commando operations
Even then, it was still another 9 months until the US entered the war

By the time the US actually joined the war in December '41, Britain had turned the tide in the Battle of the Atlanti with the capture of enigma, kicked the Vichy French out of Syria and Lebanon, crushed an Axis-supported rebellion in Iraq, toppled the pro-Axis Iranian regime, stepped up the bombing campaign and completely kicked the Italians out of East Africa
And, prehaps most importantly, the Germans had gone to war with the USSR.

No british army, navy, airforce = No D-day.
Most of the ships used were royal navy, most of the men used were British, Most of the aircraft used were RAF.
The landings were sent from the UK.
Saving private ryan and other us movies don't teach you that either.
(The British and Canadians had the worse beaches to attack)
At one point in the war it was just the UK on its own and we showed the german airforce.

@distantkilljoy We entered the war very late and our role in d-day was overblown but stop talking out of your ass. You could have done without us? Our support and lend-lease is what kept the war going. Also, if we hadn't stepped in Japan would have been a major threat to deal with along with Germany.

@distantkilljoy As a Canadian, I just want to say you're mistaken about the beaches. Juno was probably the easiest beach as it turned out, that's why we made it the furthest inland. Omaha was probably the worst.

you talk one load of shit. im in the royal marines and every single marine has been deployed. we have 60,000 in afghanistan. and when they return from tour, the other 60,000 will go over, when they come back the last remaining men go over and it starts off back at the start. and the british army has a brilliant track record of fitness and nearly zero mental problems. we dont get post traumatic stress because we get trained longer than the rest of the world.

@ditdatdot Not to be picky but... there's less than 10,000 British servicemen in Afghanistan at any one point - plus, the Royal Marines consist of 7,420 personnel - where the hell did you get the 60,000 figure from? And where did you get the "zero mental problems" quote from? As someone who works with British Soldier's suffering from PTSD, I can quite comfortably say that you're the one talking one load of shit.

to be honest mate i should know because im a serving royal marine. you probably got those numbrs from a previous MOD report. but as of now we have only 60,000 british soldiers, two thousand royal marines, 180 RAF regiment soldiers and 112 RAF pilots and 212 military police serving in afghanistan as of now. we have 7,000 royal marines at the moment, you got to remember six hundred men join the RMC every year so the number always rises and drops.

@ditdatdot What are you talking about? You are either adding extra zero's to your figures, or you're getting your info from completely the wrong source. As of now, there are 9,500 British troops deployed in Afghan (including marines, airmen and sailors). Simple as that. Where the hell are you getting your 60,000 figure from!?!?
And I understand hundreds join the RMC every year, but hundreds also leave - there is a target number to enlist every year to keep numbers at roughly 8,000 overall.

i have a friend of mine who see's someone about pst traumatic stress. its not because of war its because hes always getting picked on by other marines. terrible thing. I've personally never met anyone who suffers from PTSD but i'm in 45 commando, there are a lot of men here so i dont know them all.

So your defence secretary requested that your troops train with ours in order to gain experience and the skills required. I think only about two thousand troops that did the course.
