There's so much attention paid to Palin's intelligence (or lack thereof). I'd like to see more attention paid to her narcissism - and I mean narcissism in a clinical, psychiatric sense, as in Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Hmm.

Grudgingly, I cede that there is veracity in the full quote. We have definitely manipulated smaller countries for the benefit of our economy and special lobbies, usually at the expense of the smaller country.

What I will maintain, though, is the idea of America as a force for good in the world. I don't think there is a stronger proponent of freedom and democracy, and while this is a mixed bag (see: Palestine electing Hamas), I think the end result of the mix is a net positive.

On that point we agree, trombonbe. The US reminds me in a way of a Jeckyl and Hyde persona. Providing so much of what is right and decent and yet, at other times, metting out so much destruction and devastation. My own personal belief is that the corporations are the ones who dish out the bad with only profit in mind while the American people themselves are, for the most part, kind and giving. Who's in charge at any given moment is the unknown.
