this game was a complete waste of €2,49......

third mission in, there is a boss which you cannot sneak up to, you have to shotgun your way around, and believe me, this just isnt that kind of game >_>

on top of that; terrible AI, borderline as bad as sniper: ghost warrior AI

and forced elements where you dress as a nazi officer are absolutely appaulingly bad, as going near enemies causes your cover to blow, so you have to instead suspiciously walk all the way around the perimeter of the area.

This game was highly underrated and it's nice to see a review which actually does it justice.

This game is really good and actually demands something from the player other than push a button at the right time.

Thanks Mark, now I have this one on my list to purchase as well. I bought more video games this year than I ever have before because every time I watch a CGR review, I need to buy the game that Mark is reviewing because Mark is the bomb. I also have to say that for a 2009 release, this game looks absolutely beautiful. The graphics are stunning.

It puts people off because unfortunately they've been accustomed to regenerative health, multiple checkpoints, and easier difficulties. I miss the days of NES contra, bionic commando, castlevania, battletoads (fucking hard game that one is), totally rad, and plenty others out there that CHALLENGED the player instead of holding their hand through it.

I skipped on this game in 2009 because of bad reviews. Just finished playing it now on PC after getting it for $5 on Amazon d/l service, and I had a blast with this. It does require patience, but your review here is spot-on. Wish I'd seen this review back then, as I'd have been happy to pay full price for this experience. BTW, for anyone interested, PC keyboard and mouse controls worked great.

Bought it 2nd hand and have just this minute finished it, I'm a massive fan of Tenchu, guess thats why I go for underrated stealth games lol! and yes the game is massively flawed, i had to go Trench Coat Mafia on the last level as i could see no viable way to stealth the guards as they see you when your in shadow, but its def worth a go, i mean stealth killing Nazi's is always worth the effort imo =)

Fucking THANK YOU! Finally, a reviewer who doesn't fail at life. Yes, this game takes patience. Yes, you may die a few times before you figure out the correct way to finish the level, but I like it because of that and because it makes you use your head instead of just mashing buttons! Also at the 8:00 mark, don't shoot the guard, sneak over and crawl under his station and you can kill both the guys without wasting ammo lol! Good review, and yeah, I thought the game was very cool to! Subscribed!

I got this the other day it does feel fresh. It has lovely visuals for a 2008 game and stands up to the likes of most titles today. The graphics and sound reminded me a little of Metro 2033 because of the way they mould together and immerse you into the game.

But, in hindsight, I do have but one major complaint. Weapons. The game could have been made that much easier for you if you could pick up weapons or ammo for weapons from the fallen guards, and didn't have such limited supply for your own silenced pistol.

I REALLY enjoyed this game alot. Yes the A.I. can be boneheaded but damn does it feel VERY satisfying when you clear a room full of those Nazi bastards, the music is incredibly tense and fits the game fantastically, and the graphics (especially the lighting effects) were AWESOME. Anyone interested in it I say give it a shot, its only $20 at Gamestop now.

This game really reminds me of Manhunt.They surely copied the gameplay style from there.Sneaking in the shadows,noise level,stealth assassinations.The only thing that separates Velvet Assassin from Manhunt/Manhunt 2 are the gruesome assassinations you peform in Manhunt.Otherwise,they're the same thing.

@nrothmeier l played both and l can tell you, the best was velvet by far. lf you're only seeking for pure action without thinking too much take 50ct but if you're the type of guy who likes Splinter cell, Tenchu and all, go for it. You won't be disappointed.
