youtube/uYMP1-ZkoM4 "here is a demo of "With A Tear" recorded and chopped as well by Steve Perry and then polished up minus vocals by Neil & Jonathan for the Time 3 box set.. Notice how Steve scatted out the song during the creative process.
Yea it might have made it to the Raised on Radio Album but Steve perry was given 100 percent control of everything and chopped it from the final 10 to make it on the album...
@kpowers Steve Perry's Mom was very ill and Perry needed to be helicoptered away to be by her side before she passed...it slowed recording and production time way down and cost alot of money for the band...Neil Schon & Jonathan Cain found this gem in the vaults and polished it up a bit. and released it for us to enjoy.
@W103WWRW Yeah I remember hearing about Steve's momm being sick didn't know it was around this time. Anybody know what album this song might have ended up on if Steve did sang vocals??? Raised on Radio maybe??? Oh well, thanks solelover 70
I really wish I could have been older when this time period of music was going on. It just seemed like times were better then they are now. I saw them in concert once in San Diego, back in the eighties, but I was really young and don't remember much of it. My mother took me, and years later, I still listen to these guys. Inspiring music to help you through rough times.
this song reminds me when i first bought the time 3 boxset in 2006,it brings me back to a place in my head .a full moon in the foothills on a journey to find a friend
Best band EVER!

This lick with words from Perry would've made this SONG a big one for Raised on Radio. I like to run to it.

As great as this piece is as an instrumental, can you imagine how awesome this song would be with Perry's soaring vocals on top of it? Wow.

Without pulling this disc out of my collection and reading it, it was Larrie London on drums & Randy Jackson on bass!

Could be Larrie London. I think this tune was recorded around "Raised On Radio".

No, its an instrumental, I would love to learn this on guitar... but there's no tabs for it on the internet.. guess I'll have to ask my teacher.
