@Muhlineks Yes, VW did sell diesel Vanagons in the US, One of my Dad's secretaries had one, It was 2 tone light and dark brown, I rode in it numerous times.
Absolutely awesome commercial! Where the blazes did you dig THIS up? Thank you SO much 4 posting it! My all-time favorite ride right there, too bad VW didnt use .0001% of their corporate brains & continue to improve on the Vanagon with a more reliable engine. VW could have just saved money in-house and just used their 1980-1982 Vanagon Diesel mounts, brackets, & bars and used their same engines used in their Rabbits, Jettas, Passats & Sciroccos, giving choices of 16V, VR6 or diesel!
didn't VW sell diesel Vanagons in the us? I think it's not that simple to put a vr6 or a four cylinder in line engine. the follow-up model the t5 caravelle or multivan was launched six years later. it had a diagonal mounted engine and front wheel drive. but i guess they didnt sell it overseas.
