I should also note that these 1-876 numbers are similar to 1-900 numbers in the U.S. The difference is, 1-900 numbers have to state that charges will apply.

1-876 numbers, among others, don't have to state any applicable charges, since the number doesn't reside in the U.S. Also, many people assume that 1-800#'s are toll free, big mistake.

So you can imagine the shock when this woman (who's on disability and clearly not mentally stable) received her phone bill.

Come on now people, be gentle. How would you like it if your 90 year old grandmother or mother fell for this scam. At that age, they didn't exactly grow up with these types of scams, let alone computers to verify incoming phone numbers.

Also, some people lose their ability to function well as they age. Yet, you're going to sit there, holier than though and chastise others for being 'stupid' or 'they deserve that'?

I hope when you reach 90+ years old [god forbid], you get scammed.

Yah know, I didn't think the lady was being THAT stupid. Atleast she called to check and see if its real instead of just sending the money. What I think is dumb is that she blames the scammer and her for her being poor/"a nobody". Take some fucking responsibility.

It's a never-ending cycle: Some moron gets scammed. The local news does a story about it, giving us the warning signs. Months go by. Then another moron gets scammed, the local news does a story about it... Jeez people, wake the fuck up.

Drone: shooom, target aquired, payload to be delivered

Scammer: "what a dumb lady, she never saw it comming, that means it's her own bloody fault..."
