@ipaintyou1 The United States Supreme Court gave railroads the right of way at crossings. (Grand Truck Railway Company of Canada v. Ives, 144 U.S. 408 (1892)
Arthur Collyer has likely passed on. (This was aired in '97.) So chances are, from how old he looked in the interview, if he's still alive, he's probably about ninety.
In Australia between Brisbane and Rockhampton we have the tilt trains and they used to have a camera in the nose so you could watch the scenery go past when one night a suicide was standing on the rails looking right at the train.Needless to say every person on the train saw this person splat all over the front. But what a great show you have uploaded.Cheers.
@Mutleytech Depends on the system. For Example, the parking brakes on school buses usually are held back by air so that in the event that the air pressure is lost the brakes come on. In the regular brake system air is used to push the brakes on to the brak drums/disc. Of course this applies only to buses with air brakes
@JackStanton92 - "Unstoppable" was based on the real-life story of CSX Train #8888 (later nicknamed "Crazy Eights"), which ran away from it's engineer in an Ohio freight yard. Just do a search of CSX 8888 Runaway and tons of entries will com up.
I, as a conductor/engineer for BNSF watched this last night when i was cruizin U-tube. Ironically i coming down Cajon pass this morning. I went to apply the brakes, when i did my speed increased up to 26.5mph! lol..(limit's 25mph) After seeing this video last night, I decided maybe its best not to blast its horn aimlessly. ...staying quiet for respect to avoid frightening the residence near the location..
Why did the screen go white right before two trains would crash?

I thought air pressure kept the brakes off so if pressure is lost the brakes would apply.
