  • When Asrtoworld opened in the late '60s, Astroworld was the future.

  • FUCK THE FUTURE-----------I WANT ASTROWORLD BACK

  • Unfortunately, no, it was not just a dream. This is Houston. The place where tradition goes to die. And yes, Astroworld was at least a SUMMER tradition for many Houstonian kids like myself. I'd go there with my friends. Mom would drop us off early in the morning and not pick us up until after the fireworks show. It was hot during the summer, but it was SAFE and man was it fun!!! Great memories that my own kids will, sadly, never have...:-(

  • 1:25 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! MY MOM ALWAYS WENT THERE WHEN SHE WAS LITTLE I NEVER GOT 2 GO THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The changing demographics in that area had a lot to do with the end of Astroworld...no one with money wanted to venture into Mexico.

  • At 2:25, I was like half laughing, half "what the...?" XD

  • I wish it was all a DREAM:-(

  • THATS ME!!!!

  • at 1:24, i was like WTF

    lol

    sad days, sad days

  • man those were the good ole days!

  • i dont think it was the demalization that was the worst. I think its the fact that six flags started to ruin one of Hustons greatest attractions... I may not know much about it but I know yall Hustonins really loved that place.

    R.I.P

  • yes. PLEASE tell me that was just a dream! I wanna ride the Cyclone & I want it now!!! So sad. Great footage, good memories, well done =]

  • WOW are those actual videos of them tearing it down and distroying it???? Wow. its really sad! My mom kept telling me she wishes she could've taken me there. i really wish she would have but she never did. It seems really amazing!

  • funny but sad

  • ill miss you astroworld

it was all hurricane ike's fault, lol

  • min 1:28 oh that part was horrible and makes me cry as hell mmmm sorry im crying in this moment sad really sad.

  • I feel you. Ima grrown ass man and i miss that place

  • The wealthy businessmen win again. The land is worth more as an extention of the nearby medical center than an amusement park, even though it was $40 to get in and 3 bucks for a 16oz bottle of water.

The land will be used to build a large hospital that will be funded by our sky rocketing healthcare insurance

  • Sad but nice! :*(

    Thank you.

  • Ok that was too heartbreaking...especially the cyclone part...ASSHOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still can't beleive they tore it down!

  • i miss that place with all my heart i cant belive they took it down and now kemah boardwalk is gone to thanks to ike now we have no theme parks

    =(

    hurricanes-1

    theme parks-0

  • Met you at RTB. too bad we didn't get a chance to do the map tour.

  • the destruction scenes made my heart drop. thats so sad.

  • the guy here is my cousin

  • Sad, so sad. I miss astroworld so much, I remember visiting every summer until '01. I really wish I could have had the chance to visit before the park closed for good. The demo of Astroworld was nothing more than corporate stupidity.

  • thats bull shit what they did to the phyclone

  • ITS STUPID! why would they sell the astroworld land and (he) thought the land was more now its nothing cause its been a dump of dirt just sitting there for 3 years now im freaking

  • mann thats sucks. i just cried one time i pass by astroworld graveyard cause i had so many memories. It just hard thinkings people were walking through it and riding rides and now its not there anymore.

  • Good video.I miss Astroworld =(

  • I MISS THAT!

i live in houston, and it's summer time!

i wanna go there again. it was just downtown!

    ...

  • Briliant David Love it! Keep up the good work!

  • David Purdie's autographed art car invite on ebay - now we know you're famous!!!

  • I loved it! Anyone who's experienced the enchantment of Astroworld should also see David Purdie's "Disastroworld" at the Art Car Museum.

  • monumental tribute can't wait for more.... this is symptomatic of all fun on a grand scale.

  • I saw this guy's video on channel 11 news a few years ago right after the park was closed. So sad. :-(

  • hey david it's stephf from AVP

    sigh to absent friends

    salu

  • Rest in peace.

  • I love this video so, so much! Just saw it again last night at the River Oaks Theater.

  • David Purdie is becoming the John Waters of the Houston short documentary scene. His eccentric cinematic genius is just beginning to emerge.
