Oh my God! I made the biggest mistake not buying this game when I was living in Germany when I was little. Now I can't find this game, and on ebay none of the UK or Germany version are in mint condition. This game pwns the shit out of Zelda and Zelda for the SNES was an awesome game already. I loved this game, I never beat it and yeah I can play it on an emulator but damn I want the actual game. I still have the 32 page comic book that Nintendo gave out for free in Germany.
the problem with me loving the plot of this game is that I live in America and I don't know if I'll ever find a way to play Terranigma but I'll find a way by God
@ExNihillMetal yeah also the music isn't traditionally epic, it kinda gave me a sense of being part of a large cycle if that makes sense, for example the Elekmata music, you feel like you've just walked into some sacred place, it's not about you the hero forcing his way through, it's more like I think it tries to give you a feeling of awe like you're taking part in a cycle that is eternal, and does it very well. Definitely a lot of things just gelled together really well in this game.
I can't believe they never released this in North America! I would have loved to play this back in my Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger days! Heck, I'd love to play it now, but that was a perfectly good Canadian childhood you could have made better, distributors!
The use of motifs in this game's soundtrack is outstanding. Modern games often fail spectacularly on the "soundtrack" front, opting for generic music which barely expresses the individual qualities of the game in question. The music of this game could be nothing other than Terranigma, it is so wonderfully woven.
As I recall this wasnt released in the US. You should look for a snes emulator and get the UK version for free. As far as I know there is no Wii dlc, so this is the best option. I would sell you mine, but its in german.

@theorc2 I know what rpg stands for. The key to any true rpg is a unique or engaging battle system. An rpg isn't an rpg if the combat is a FPS. Rpg stands for Role Playing Game, but it's key characteristic is the battle system. And a turn based system, while easy, lacks no requirement of skill. Various scenarios pit strategy such as buffs, de-buffs, elemental supremacy and such, and all require skill of some sort or another. And when you make a post, please punctuate it and check your grammar.

@ManuelDR1969 Chrono Trigger is great, probably the greatest RPG for SNES (I also loved Tales of Phantasia). Terranigma can't be the best SNES RPG because it`s an adventure not an RPG. But it doesn't really matter because terranigma none the less is one of the best games ever created.

Terranigma is a fantastic game and - I guess - the saddest game I ever played, too. I must admit that even though there are so many fun situations I remember they can hardly weigh the sad moments up.
Just look at how unhappy people become the more of the planet you bring back to life and the more technology progresses. It feels like a mistake doing what the game wants you to do.
Nevertheless: a great game that's worth every minute of playing.
Actually I think that's what makes this game so special. They made the tradeoff nature/civilization an experience players will never forget. Ah, my alltime favourite.

When I think about playing this game, hearing this music and think about the very moving, unfair and sad story theme, I cry. It was one of the greatest games every made in my opinion, just because of the story behind it.
This theme remember me a lot of Joe Hisaichi Style in laputa no castle cross between Conan the barbarian Basile Pouldoris style ^^ one of my best musical RPG expérience.

Ich hab das game zuhause und es ist einfach unglaublich, was soll man dazu sagen. Die Story, das Gameplay die Musik..... es passt einfach so perfekt zueinander. Wie gern wär ich wieder ein kleiner Junge und würde es auf meiner SNES ohne Sorgen spielen.

this theme is just on par with chrono trigger nothing gave me ever goosebumps and made me wanna to play the SO incredibly much like this theme and the chrono trigger theme.....
if i ever had to choose between those two it would even be probably this one

Look at the Storys of the Old Games and then at the Story of the new ones...

Well, Chrono Trigger might be better. Especially if you like turn-based RPGs.

@ManuelDR1969 Chrono Trigger is great, probably the greatest RPG for SNES (I also loved Tales of Phantasia). Terranigma can't be the best SNES RPG because it`s an adventure not an RPG. But it doesn't really matter because terranigma none the less is one of the best games ever created.

un jeu de fou furieux. Non seulement il est génial mais en plus il fut l'un des rares jeux de rôle 16bits a être sorti en Europe avec Secret of Mana, Secret of evermore, illusion of Gaia (Time).
Qui plus est, il n'est pas sorti en Amérique du Nord mais seulement chez nous européens et au Japon.
Rien que pour cela merci Nintendo d'avoir penser pour un fois à l'Europe.

@SnesRulez I honestly don't think they can pull off a remake especially with how shitty they've gotten now. I would rather they re-released it for the SNES with the same packaging and whatnot, I would rather have that.

Terranigma is a fantastic game and - I guess - the saddest game I ever played, too. I must admit that even though there are so many fun situations I remember they can hardly weigh the sad moments up.
Just look at how unhappy people become the more of the planet you bring back to life and the more technology progresses. It feels like a mistake doing what the game wants you to do.
Nevertheless: a great game that's worth every minute of playing.

Grafik is net alles. und ich muss ehrlich sagen ich hab das game 20mal durch gezockt und brauchte ne weile bis ich die story gecheckt habe. umwerfende story, heldenhafte musik die passt, nette idee mit der ganzen zivilisation und aufbau der welt! Ich hab das game zuhause und es ist einfach unglaublich, was soll man dazu sagen. Die Story, das Gameplay die Musik..... es passt einfach so perfekt zueinander. Wie gern wär ich wieder ein kleiner Junge und würde es auf meiner SNES ohne Sorgen spielen.
