  • Me too!

  • I love how he tells her the engagement and runs to the door!!

  • Give the man a straight answe, Goldie

  • "TRADITION!!"

  • is that matzo ball soup Tevye's eating?

  • I like how you're horribly anti-semitic and yet you care about the Jewish characters at the same time

  • awwwwwwwww.

just watching tevye and golde together made me cry. :'D

  • I love how Tevye just decides to scream, "TRADITION!" in the sky.

  • Then you love me!

  • "i can handle my own wife!" .... "i hear he has a rich uncle " yea tevye u handled her XD

  • Tevye: "Love. It's a new style!" A t-shirt waiting to happen.

  • AWWWWWWWWW

After 25 years, it's nice to knoww

  • Too much signing

  • @peeweemax100 its a musical, music is a very important element

  • Damn, Tevye said the first time he met Golde was when the priest made them exchange their vows!

  • @ecopoliticalczar Well, not quite. This is Judaism; we're married by rabbis, not priests.

  • The love scene is a favourite of mine. I think it's so emotionally moving; the way it was acted. After 25 years and with five daughters, they knew they were in love. It just took them longer to say it.

  • The "Do You Love Me?" sequence has always been my favorite. It's masterfully acted by both -- I especially love watching Golde's expressions throughout the sequence.

  • I think it's lovely how he gets over tradition for the sake of his daughters' happiness. even with chava in the end.

  • Oh my goodness Perchik (sorry if I am misspelling it) that has to be one of the most insulting yet successful proposals I've ever heard. Successful, but insulting. And xD HA HA! Tevye had that "where's my shotgun?" look when he saw them holding hands!

  • 'i've decided to give them my permission to get engaged."

RUN BEFORE SHE HAS TIME TO RECOVER!

  • "I hope you'll be very happy, and my anwser is no."

  • WHO ASKS YOU?!!!!! kinda hard to dominate when you come back from running away hehe

  • "DO I WHAT?" lol but i love this song

  • Comment removed

  • love = indigestion

  • Ha ha. She's beating up the dough.

  • LOL at 0:28 when Tevye tries to finalize Perchik's departure by reaching out to shake his limp hand

  • TRADITION!!!

  • 2:30 how the fuck did he get so far away

  • Papa's a big softy.

  • how many hands does he have????

  • He scared of his wife

  • on the other hand, did adam and eve have a matchmaker? xDD

  • That is seriously my favorite song in the whole movie...<3 I especially love Tevye's face when he finds out golde loves him <3 so cute!!

  • "He has nothing" SO WHAT!

  • "So I've given them my permission to get married I'lleatlater! *runs*"

    LMAO

  • the times be a changing

  • Tevye cautiously watches Golde punch the dough before he tells her

    :)

  • @remoteoutofcontrol They loved each other. That's the greatest miracle god could ever make. I think they knew what they were doing.

  • To not even ask parents for permission to marry someone's daughter is just arrogant and wrong.

  • @remoteoutofcontrol If I ever get married I don't think I could respect a man who asked for another person's permission to marry me....

It's MY permission a man has to get, not anyone else's.

  • @Sshelly34213 - In some cultures, society places great value on the role of parents. They generally believe that if it wasn't for the parent(s)/guardian(s), their loved ones wouldn't have turned out as well as they did. So as a sign of gratitude and respect, they seek permission or blessing from the parent(s)/guardian(s). This is done in order to preserve strong family ties. However, none of this will take place unless the couple decides on getting married first :)

  • @remoteoutofcontrol Well I understand that some cultures see it as noble and good, I just don't disagree with that.

A blessing? Ok. Permission? ....in modern society and culture? It just seems so old world.

  • @Sshelly34213 - :) I totally understand where you're coming from. But when you say "modern society and culture, " you're basically referring to the junk that the media dumps on the minds of today's youths to mold a new culture. Sometimes it is good to go out there and see for yourself just how these "old world" cultures work harmoniously with family and efficiently with natural resources, while our "modern societies" get a lot more greedy, arrogant and careless.

  • @remoteoutofcontrol What? Are you talking about pop culture? I'm not particularly certain what you mean "what the media dumps on me." I don't watch the news, I don't even read papers to be honest. So what media source is influencing me today?

I don't have money to travel around the world, I'm also not a fan of traveling. Not that I don't like meeting different types of people and seeing new cultures, I just hate the traveling part of it.

  • @remoteoutofcontrol I actually do know a lot about other cultures to be honest and I respect them, but there are certain things I don't like about certain cultures. I especially dislike their conservative attitude toward what men/women/parents/children should be like. I'm just a progressive person by nature.

The communal lifestyle of some, the dance, music, food, beliefs etc...of these cultures is something quite exciting to me personally.

  • @Sshelly34213 - You know what, you are absolutely right. At its best, cultures can only act as general guides in soceity. It is individuals, like you and me, who ultimately decide what is good for ourselves. For me, I tend to practice certain values from different cultures that I perceive to be beneficial/good, while ignoring the rest. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your thoughts on this matter. Cheers :)

  • @remoteoutofcontrol Thanks as did I, whatever works for you. I am for the individual.

  • @remoteoutofcontrol I completely disagree. After all, parents often don't always have their children's best interests. Besides, it seems a bit sexist, like a girl can't decide for herself. If a couple truly loves each other, it seems a bit cruel to say they can't get married.

  • @remoteoutofcontrol True that

  • I love how Tevye is scared of Golde

  • i love how his 'on the other hand moments' ends with him yelling TRADITION! before returning to the normal world... lol

  • Lol. I love how when he's deciding about Hodel and Perchik he points at them and says "But they decided it without a matchmaker!"

Way to be an ultimate tattletale and tell god :P

  • hahaha I love Tevye and golde :P

  • ~monotone~ "Have some Soup."

  • 1:00 Hold on folks, here we go again!

  • Perchik may be kind of an ass, but Hodel's stubborn too. I think she can handle him

  • I just noticed that as each sister goes along they bend the tradition a little bit further.

  • @dreamgirlz96

I know! With Tzietel it was no matchmaker but permission and blessing

With Hotel it was no matchmaker no permission but blessing

With Havaleh it was completely secret and marrying whom they wish...

lol sorry if i spelt the names wrong... haha

  • Love....it's a new style! Oh, Tevye :)

  • Perchik's a bit of an ass, isn't he?

  • @persnikity12345 No kidding. Gosh, Hodel what have you gotten yourself into?

  • @persnikity12345 yeah, I'm starting to notice that lol

  • The 'Do you love me?' song is beautiful! It might not change much on the outside, but it's so lovely to discover, and after 25 years as well!

  • "Do you love me?"

    "You're a fool!"

[smiles] "I know, but do you love me?"

You gotta love this tender hearted scene between Tevye and Golde. It had the most depth and substance of all the relationships in this story.

  • Wow, this guy has ALOT of hands. . .

  • "I love you" - Forget those 25 years - I wonder how many people can say that after 10 years of marriage.... Tevje and Golde had such a difficult beginning and yet, they've learned to love each other not even knowing about this.

This song is truly touching. :)

  • 'Do you love me' Has to be the most romantic scene in this whole movie. Forget all that young foolish romance, THAT'S AWESOME!

  • Tevye is the best dad in the entire world!!!

  • I think my favorite part of the movie is when he asks Golda " Do you love me?" and they are sitting on the bed together. After 25 years just discovering they love each other. So adorable!

  • "Do you love me?"

    yiii.. sweet. :D

  • "He likes you but you'll going away and your staying here. So have a nice trip perchik and i hope you'll be very happy and my answer is NO." LOL I love that. "But Tevye we are not asking for your pormision only for your blessing. We ARE going to get married." Burn

  • I love how Tevye runs away like a little kid. Awesome.

  • "I've decided to give my permission for them to get engaged-" *runs away*

"Go inside, do lie down!" (Tevye is already inside)

  • Do you love meeeee <3 =)

  • I Love this film. But I have to say that if I was asking my dad for his blessing and he started singing, I would be more than a little confused!

  • "Go inside, go lie down!" Tevye IS inside!

  • lol another "on the other hand" moment

  • "It seems these two have the same matchmaker!" The BEST matchmaker!

  • @LightEnchantress Destiny and God =) <3

  • its cute how humbled Tevye gets when Golde says she loves him

  • haha , "tell her im going to see my rich uncle !" "i can handle my own wife" .. "i hear he has a rich uncle !"

    the lie :]]

  • @alyybbyful hehehehehehe

  • he says he can handle his own wife...but i don't think so! LOL!

  • when she says, " i suppose i do," he gets all "aww shucks,ma'am." it's soooo adorable :]

  • And I hope you will be very happy and my answer is NO!

  • I've seen this movie so many times but the duet of "Do you love me" puts tears in my eyes every time! Beautiful movie, thank you for uploading!!

  • Cute song <3

  • so about twice a year in my orchestra class we'd watch this movie i guess b/c it had the word fiddler on it, idk, but i'd always hope that we'd get to that "do u love me?" part but the bell always rang too soon. we only got their once. it's my favorite part!! and now i get to watch it!

  • Oh my gosh. That's just like a wife to avoid a direct question. LOL.

    Ahhh, love is constant.

  • 4:02-4:10 *LOL*!

  • HAHA! he runs away from golde when he tells her about hodel and perchik.

  • @SquirrelyGirly42 LOL. It was awesome.

  • "It doesn't change a thing, but after 25 years it's good to know"

    love that line

  • @TheSoch99 Lol sorry to burst your bubble but it's nice not good

  • *bursts into tears* I love this song...so sweet...

  • That song never fails to make me laugh and cry.
