Poor Hitler was misinformed, I counted eight episodes total. Hell of a thing to waste most of a season on, but it's a testament to how awesome the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is that any of us stuck around long enough to watch these episodes. At first I stumbled into the endless eight not knowing what I was in for, I made it through five episodes before I skipped ahead to the end [though I later went back and sat through all eight of them]. Just think how the animators felt making them?

I watched all 8 episodes in one day and let me tell you, it was just about the best experience I've ever had with an anime. The first two episodes were great.
