This movie was filled with sloppy writing, mostly ripping off E.T in a sloppy uncreative, and terrible way. The dialogue was bland, the story was weird and made no sense, and this was originally going to be on video due to it's sloppiness. But when the success of the rugrats movie came out, it was so popular, that they thought this film could do what the rugrats movie did without looking over the terrible and sloppy writing of the script and epically failed. Rugrats it ain't

Not only is this a disastrous failure as a form of entertainment (no, seriously, watch the trailer and spot all the cliches), but it must have done so poorly that Disney couldn't even be bothered to make a sequel to it. And thus, Doug's 1st movie will forever remain Doug's only movie.
