The first time I ever saw Lou Reed, that concert! Mythical, much better than when he came back a year later with that bell pants disco band bored out their wits, and him dyed blonde..
awww he didn't sing the main part of the heroin song which gave it the drama...even tho he was clearly a lil messed up...that's lame...i knw why he didnt wnt to bt dam
@MrLeagueOJustice If you're saying that Boxie talked him into the glam thing you're wrong. He decided to do Ziggy Stardust because of Lou transforming himself into a glam rocker.
Amazing ... congratulations... I have a slide show from this tour and a lovely version of Sweet Jane. just search for witlessandtitless and you will see it. Thanks for the upload. So rare and soooo fine.
Don't know how & where you got this from, but thank you so much for posting it! Although Lou Reed was at the top of his fame, footage from this 1973 tour is rarely seen. This was a few months before he cut his hair for the New York shows from which Rock'n'Roll Animal recorded, and this is the closest anyone can get in order to see footage from that period, with the legendary band led by guitarists Steve Hunter & Dick Wagner.
You've done a great job, Lou Reed fans everywhere will be grateful
I totally agree. Thanks to youtube and people like you we're able to enjoy footage that we even not dreamed to see five years ago. Rgds from Barcelona
@usqueadsidera I'LL BET THAT THE FRENCH OR SOME EUROPEANS FILMED (LIKELY FOR STATE-RUN TV FOR AN ARTS SHOW) SOME OF THE EUROPEAN DATES; SOMEONE JUST HAS TO INVESTIGATE BUT I'LL WAGER THAT FOOTAGE IS OUT THERE....
Great to see the Hunter/Wagner tandem with Lou.Been hoping for the lost pro shot of the December 1973 Howard Stein Academy of Music show, but I guess it's still hidden away.
WHO FILMED LOU'S STEIN SHOW? THIS IS THE MATERIAL FOR ROCK N ROLL ANIMAL/LIVE, BUT WERE IT VIDEO'D AS WELL THAT WD BE ONE OF THE ZENITHS OF CULTURE OF ALL HISTORY. THE BAND WAS SHORTLIVED
& WHY HUNTER/WAGNER NEVER CAME BACK ONLY BACCHUS KNOWS..
i was there ... that is on sept. 19th 1973 in copenhagen ... .. the ticket was about 10 $ . ... i was 16 years old ... only one month after moving to the big city from the country ... have seen each venue with lou ever since ... latest this spring with the full performance of "berlin" at the danish opera house ... exchanged a few words afterwords with lou and steve hunter ... who also plays guitar with dick wagner on this shot ...
i was there ... that is at the copenhagen performance on september 19th 1973 ... 16 yrs old ... a month after moving to the big city from the country ... it was awesome ... have seen almost every concert ever since ... this spring the full performance of "berlin" at the danish opera house ... with steve hunter on guitar ... wonderful ... exchanged a few words with both lou and steve after the show ...
Wow. I hope this prompts anyone who has MORE video from this tour to post it here. Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner were amazing during ths time period, and I'd love to see more performance video from them. I have The Alice Cooper Show DVD, but it was poorly edited, and a lot of the playing was not in sync with the audio..
Finally more footage of this show! I've only seen Wild Side before but never Heroin and WL/WH. Not so long after this performance, Rock 'n Roll Animal was recorded. Thanx for posting!
priceless

Yeah it's not that great of a look is it? I'll bet that rascal Bowie had something to do with this suggestion.

Uh, I get that, but I wonder what those discussions were like between him and Bowie.

Very rare video. The so called "Berlin tour" started in september 73 and finished on dec.21 at the Academy of music in Nyc.
Unfortunately, there aren't any official videos of that tour...
Who knows....
