Mark 14:50 doesn't say that there were no eye witnesses to the crucifixion. If you read the context, it says that the disciples abandoned Jesus when he was arrested. John 19:26 says that Jesus' mother and the "disciple whom he loved" was standing near Jesus during his crucifixion. This reference is to the apostle John. Also later in chapter 19 it mentions Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus burying Jesus. Nicodemus knew Jesus personally and was a prominent member of the Sanhedrin.

The problem everyone is that Dr. Naik is placing his presuppositions (that Jesus was not resurrected) onto the Scriptures, rather than beginning with a neutral position to investigate if the Bible claims Jesus was resurrected or not. It was not a spiritual, but literal bodily resurrection. Peace,
I wanna ask few simple Questions... If Mary Knew Jesus was alive on the cross and was take alive to the Tomb, why would she come back on the 3rd day Y not the same night Y just with oil Y not with food to feed a hungry would person?
How would she expect a wounded person to be alive after so much of blood loss with no food and water ? “Jesus take alive from the cross’ Why would she keep this information with herself and did not seek for help?
I believe if marry knew at that point that Jesus was still alive at the cross and was taken alive into the Tomb she would have passed this information to the disciple of Jesus .. and tried to help the wounded Jesus .. If you see the Sufferings Jesus took on the cross you can imagine how much blood he must have lost at that very moment . Common sense .. why would Marry try to help after 3 day a wounded person who had already lost so much of blood ? Y not the day after or the same night ?

There is no such thing as a resurrected spirit in Scripture. The word resurrection referrs ONLY to the body. All Biblical resurrections were bodily - physical - material same body that had died.

@Afgsusan1 i don't know the quran very well but even i know that it also has errors and contradictions. e.g. i read some contradictory verses in the quran that clearly says the exact opposite of the other verse... don't want to argue with you though because you're blind to see the truth anyway.

He is so manipulative. And all his points were so misleading and so dramatic. Its clearly written the Angel appeared to Mary and said Christ is risen. So whats the point. Does he believe if Christ has been crucified then Christianity is true the salvation is true? Yes he must so he must reject the fact Jesus was not crucified. Jesus risen both spiritually and bodily as he rose dead people through his miracles. So where he is beating the drum.
if he doesnt believe in the Bible why is he pointing out that Jesus was clearly not crucified using that bible verses..its contradicting..doesnt believe the bible yet using the bible itself for the arguments with the Christians..all the verses he used is form the bible..firmly pointing out that jesus was not crucified ACCORDING to the Bible..hhmmnnnnn...
@qwerty0019 I just wonder what the intention of your arguments is. I am personally happy to follow Jesus Christ, Son of God. His whole life and teaching of love, his miracles, death and resurrection make lots of sense to me. I do not find the same among some so called prophets. Are you aware of contradictions in Suras 3:42,45 and 19:17-21 (Angels to Mary); 2:97 and 16:102 (Who revealed to Muhammad the Quran); and 2:29 and 49:27-30 (What was created first)? For me faith matters not sophism.
suzie he's using it because if he can find contradictories in a religion's own holy book, then the entire religion starts to look flawed and full of inconsistencies. I think this guy on a couple of points goes a bit of the topic but overall i think if anything he proves that the new testament is a whole bunch of inconsistant stories all jumbled together i dunno but regardless there's no point in having faith if it's blind faith.

I would like to further add that it took Jesus at least three hours to die. Hence, the phrase "hanging on a tree" does not mean death by suffocation via a tight rope on the neck, for that would ensure death in just seconds (also, how else would Jesus have the opportunity to talk?)
It is very clear from the text. The phrase is just another way the ancients described the standard Roman execution - hanging on a tree through the use of nails AND ropes...a wooden cross crafted out of a tree.

Here, tell me,, let us begin with this first one....was the Roman historian (Tacitus) wrong in any of his details when pointing to the founder of Christianity and describing the manner of his death?
Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead--whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree."
This same author, Luke, writes in his first book: "When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. " (Lk 23:33)
The standard Roman capital punishment back then for non-citizens was crucifixion. "Hanging on a tree" is just another way of restating the standard.
This is too simple. Jesus had to go through a change when He ascended and left this earth. Just like the Apostles knew in 1 Thess 4:17ff and 1Cor 15:51ff. He had to show with the body He had to fulfill scripture and to show He had power over the grave. How else would they have known He was raised?!? They could not know if his body was left in the tomb and he was ressurected a spirit. THINK!
Dr. Zakir Naik is the most brilliant and articulate twister of these verses I've ever seen in my life.
The simple fact is that his tying the verses together all the while ignoring the clear context and statements within the same writings he is quoting, and providing his own eisegetical interpretation of them is a classic form of religious manipulation.
The poor pastors debating him arrived illequiped with false assumptions themselves, and the listeners are simply followers of either of the 2.
Naik is simply showing how Christianity's man made doctrines don't agree with The Bible which doesn't agree with itself but yet agrees with The Qur'an at times
Jesus did rise from the dead..a spear pierced his side and proven that Christ was dead. Then on the third day rose form the dead and acesended to Heaven. this IDOIT dosent know what he's talking about. Exactly, so what Christians are saying is that when Jesus died for our sins, he took away ALL the sins of the world. @678199 Jesus paid for the sins of those who willingly follow after him. man can not pay for his own sins. This is what the Bible says. It is called "grace" which is a gift that you don't deserve. That does not mean we are not accountable, it means that we have already been found guilty of sin and that the price of our guilt, which is beyond us to pay, was paid for by Jesus. because God is loving and personal not a distant God who checks a lists of things we do and don't do.

Then explain this to me, how comes in many verses of the bible it claims that Jesus is a Prophet: Luke 7:16, 13:33, 24:18-19 - Jesus was a prophet. To name a few. It actually mentions it more times then him being the son of God. Infact, how many times does it mention that he is the son of god in the bible. I asked someone who reads the Bible all the time "How many times does if any does the Bible say that "Jesus is the Son of God" from memory he could only recall one instance. I know he's mistaken too.
Scholars have disputed this verse and it was peter who said that he was the son of God and not Jesus himself. Also the Bible says more clearly that Adam is the son of God Luke 3:38. So what makes Jesus more special. If anything Adam has more right to be called the son of God as he was created by Gods bear hands without a father or a mother. Think about it!!

christ was resurected in the same way lazarus was resurected. bible says lazarus was in the tomb, dead, and beginning to rot, and he was resurected. not in the spirit form, but in the flesh. this is where our beliefs differ. u believe he went on the cross but did not die, i believe he went on the cross died and was risen in the flesh along with other saints who had been dead for years. the prophecy of the messiah from the old testiments states he would die, and be raised again on the 3rd day

Mark 14:50 doesn't say that there were no eye witnesses to the crucifixion. If you read the context, it says that the disciples abandoned Jesus when he was arrested. John 19:26 says that Jesus' mother and the "disciple whom he loved" was standing near Jesus during his crucifixion. This reference is to the apostle John. Also later in chapter 19 it mentions Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus burying Jesus. Nicodemus knew Jesus personally and was a prominent member of the Sanhedrin.

Here Dr.Zakir totally misguiding the Muslims, He must has to read (old testament) Isaiah ch.53. there is a clear prophecy about the crucification of Jesus Christ. In the gospel of Mathew ch#26,27 and 28, Marks, Ch.14.V.32 to 72 ch.15. ch 16.v. 5 and 6 and 14. Luke ch 22 v. 47 to 71. ch 23 and 24. John 18, 19, 20, 21.
From John, 20: 24-29 is the answer to Dr. Zakir. I challenge him that he cannot prove these references wrong. I request to Muslims to Read the Holy Bible.

Furthermore, not all resurrection is necessarily spiritual. Lazarus was raised physically from the dead according to John 11, as was the boy in 1 Kings 17:17-24.
There is a difference between resurrection - "someone being raised from the dead" and the future resurrection on the day of judgement, which is what Jesus refers to when the woman and 7 husbands are to be raised.
Jesus need not be spirit, therefore the argument fails.

With respect, John records in 19:25-27 that he was there with at least four of the women who followed him, including his mother. The disciples may have run away when he was arrested, but the crucifixion and death was not unwitnessed. Furthermore, the Roman soldiers who executed him knew what they were doing, even spearing him to make sure. The blood and water which resulted shows death by suffocation.

I believe if marry knew at that point that Jesus was still alive at the cross and was taken alive into the Tomb she would have passed this information to the disciple of Jesus .. and tried to help the wounded Jesus .. If you see the Sufferings Jesus took on the cross you can imagine how much blood he must have lost at that very moment . Common sense .. why would Marry try to help after 3 day a wounded person who had already lost so much of blood ? Y not the day after or the same night ?

He was not a spirt at that time, he then spent about 40 days with them and the rose to heaven where he is know ACTS 1-12 and he is a sprit now. There is no such thing as a resurrected spirit in Scripture. The word resurrection referrs ONLY to the body. All Biblical resurrections were bodily - physical - material same body that had died.
in Luke 24:39, Jesus made it perfectly clear that He was not a spirit> ... and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see Me have.
James 2:26 says the body without the spirit is dead.
When Jesus died on the cross, his body died, His spirit went to the lower parts of the earth. (hades)

Hes saying because Christ was resurrected with a physical body and not a spiritual body that he wasn't really resurrected, or that he didn't really die because he wouldn't have had a normal human body. Basically if Christ didn't die then the Christian faith is taught in vain. He had arms with scars, and a body that can eat after he was resurrected. This proves he didn't die? He, like all non Christians pick the Bible apart, and do not continue with all Scripture. Example, starting with Luke 24: 39-40. Jesus does tell his Disciples that he is flesh (because he was resurrected) . Continue in the text to 44-49 and you will see where Jesus confirms all of the Old Testament prophecy, as well as his own prophecy.
It is easy to manipulate mass amounts of information (The Bible) when you take small amounts out of context and then twist it.

Does he believe if Christ has been crucified then Christianity is true the salvation is true? Yes he must so he must reject the fact Jesus was not crucified. His whole life and teaching of love, his miracles, death and resurrection make lots of sense to me. I do not find the same among some so called prophets. Are you aware of contradictions in Suras 3:42,45 and 19:17-21 (Angels to Mary); 2:97 and 16:102 (Who revealed to Muhammad the Quran); and 2:29 and 49:27-30 (What was created first)? For me faith matters not sophism.

I would like to further add that it took Jesus at least three hours to die. Hence, the phrase "hanging on a tree" does not mean death by suffocation via a tight rope on the neck, for that would ensure death in just seconds (also, how else would Jesus have the opportunity to talk?)
It is very clear from the text. The phrase is just another way the ancients described the standard Roman execution - hanging on a tree through the use of nails AND ropes...a wooden cross crafted out of a tree.

Acts 5:30 "The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead--whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree."
This same author, Luke, writes in his first book: "When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. " (Lk 23:33)
The standard Roman capital punishment back then for non-citizens was crucifixion. "Hanging on a tree" is just another way of restating the standard.

This is too simple. Jesus had to go through a change when He ascended and left this earth. Just like the Apostles knew in 1 Thess 4:17ff and 1Cor 15:51ff. He had to show with the body He had to fulfill scripture and to show He had power over the grave. How else would they have known He was raised?!? They could not know if his body was left in the tomb and he was ressurected a spirit. THINK!

@678199 Jesus paid for the sins of those who willingly follow after him. man can not pay for his own sins. This is what the Bible says. It is called "grace" which is a gift that you don't deserve. That does not mean we are not accountable, it means that we have already been found guilty of sin and that the price of our guilt, which is beyond us to pay, was paid for by Jesus. because God is loving and personal not a distant God who checks a lists of things we do and don't do.

Then explain this to me, how comes in many verses of the bible it claims that Jesus is a Prophet: Luke 7:16, 13:33, 24:18-19 - Jesus was a prophet. To name a few. It actually mentions it more times then him being the son of God. Infact, how many times does it mention that he is the son of god in the bible. So if you don't believe he is a Prophet then you are going against the teachings of your own book which means you are not a true Christian. As the saying goes ignorance is bliss!!

I asked someone who reads the Bible all the time "How many times does if any does the Bible say that "Jesus is the Son of God" from memory he could only recall one instance. I know he's mistaken too.

Scholars have disputed this verse and it was peter who said that he was the son of God and not Jesus himself. Also the Bible says more clearly that Adam is the son of God Luke 3:38. So what makes Jesus more special. If anything Adam has more right to be called the son of God as he was created by Gods bear hands without a father or a mother. Think about it!!

LOL, typical Christian, always tip toing round the question and speaking in riddles that are not based on factual evidence. The last time i looked in the Bible there was no definition of Son of God, (well i guess there are over 200 different versions of the bible and it would take me a life time to go through all of them). If you look in the oldest bible, the Hebrew version, the son of god means the servant of god and not in the fathering sense of the word.
