I saw Jenny do this number in person. It was at the recital she gave at Chapel Hill, NC, USA, It was great! I met her afterwards, took pics, got one of her and me together. She did the Habanera and 2 others from Carmen at that recital. If Bizet's Carmen looks like Jenny at age 50 or 51, she'll be doing all right. In reference to some other comments which I don't really understand, I don't think we have to worry about Jenny not being able to sing. She will sing in Hamlet at a theater near you.
Okay, is it just me, or did she look (and dound) much happier when she had a little more weight on her? She's gotten dangerously skinny these days, and I doubt that frail a body will be able to support a magnificent sound like this...
What a great singer and performer is Jennifer Larmore. I am in love with her in the 200's the same way I was with Dawn Upshaw and Carol Vaness in teh e "90's and Frederica von Stade in the "80's. And I'm still in love with all those singers. Brava, Jennifer!
Fantastic performance ... not only a great voice but a big personality which shines through! Great talent and highly entertaining! Thank you for posting!
Alas this is all wrong. This is a piece for a blonde high coloratura - think Cunegunde, Blonchen or Olympia. Larmore is too knowing. The part is for an empty headed youngster not a woman of the world.
Oh come now! This is Victor Herbert! This is Broadway! You can never be too knowing on Broadway! Victor Herbert operatteas were satire in a Vienesse accent from top to bottom! Larmore gets it. Viva to the Diva!
Funny is not the word...I just heard her do this as an encore with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and it's even better and funnier in person. People were screaming with laughter! Thanks Jennie!!!
Not only does she have a great voice, but she's super nice. I did an opera with her husband who is also an amazing singer and she came out and drank with all of us after show. Very cool lady!
I now have a new favourite performance of this on YouTube. This one! Thanks for sharing. :-)

A great voice, of course, but I find the performance overdone. Yes it's a send up but it can be more naturally charming.
