you want the windward hull to skim, not fly, for max efficiency. Flying a hull looks cool, but that's about it. You present less sail to the wind when it's "healed" over.

@miketacoma5 they say that flying a hull a few inches above the water will produce more speed because even though you may leak a bit of wind out the top of the sail, you only have half the boat in the water which creates much less friction.
