Get on the main menu and go to turn off ipod not hard.

hold down play in main menu, or if you have IPL you can reboot with MENU+SELECT and when IPL loads hit sleep

if you install ipodlinux will you have to backup your ipod songs and upload it back on, or will it stay.

iPodlinux is the format in general. Podzilla just runs it. And it does not take that much space to put it on. I have a 2gig ipod and a bunch of songs and it barely takes up any space. It depends if you put videos on it.

and linux goes on your firmware chip (where the Apple OS is located)
