p.s. Its sad to know that all the western world knows Toshiro Mifune that played M.Musashi and not this guy that did a hell of a better work. I guess public promotion and success of Kurosawa's films made him a star.

I agree. Although Mifune gained international fame, in Japan Kinnosuke Nakamura (Yorozuya) is No,1 jidaigeki star still now. Kinnosuke's Musashi is directed by a masterly director Tom Uchida with extravagant budget. It is impossible to make jidaigeki movies like this today.
