  • how come i installed windows xp on my imac 21.5 inch but there is no sound, please help

  • @andrewsoccer1 Have you installed the latest drivers?

If yes, I don't really have an answer, I have never worked with an iMac before!

  • Does it work with lion and also, I have a windows xp sp.2 that came with my dell computer. "For Distribution with a New Dell PC" could I use that?

  • @mcoco2009 Lion and Windows XP doens't g very well together, sorry. There is no XP drivers for Lions BootCamp.

Dell XP discs, sometimes work. But I have never owned a Dell.

  • Is it possible to use a Windows 'upgrade edition' for the installation? Or does it have to be a 'starter edition'?

  • @m1a2n3u4t5d I assume you mean Windows 7. There is ninja tricks to use an Upgrade disc, But a retailt or OEM dvd will work just fine!

  • @The89Lunder Thanks!

  • is it possible to dowload windows xp/vista/7 and instal it on my macbook or do i have to buy a legit cd?

  • @SilencyNelfR Well there is several places to get from the net, I have stumpled upon a few on youtube, so try to make a search here.

I am for the legit CD idea!

  • Thanks very much. Gonna try it soon.

  • i just took my partition off and my laptop still tries to boot into windows which isnt there so i have to hold down option to get into mac. how do i fix this?

  • @CAMNZ117 Open System Prefrencens, and then Startup disc. After that, you can select Mac OS X as the default.

  • I will go about that yes. Curious, you've referenced reinstalling on an internal vs. internal drive. I have not installed anything on an external drive yet and didn't plan to however you did say that to install media edition I would need an external cd drive, so I went out and bought one. I assume I can still use this to reinstall the whole thing as you suggested, yes? thx

  • @prtyg75 Sorry, I don't remember who I give what advice, I have so many who ask all kinds of things.

Anyway, yes, you can use the external drive to install everything again. If a DLL is broken, that could be a regular Windows error, XP is full of them.

  • I need help. I installed windows XP onto a 3rd party thing and I installed everything but then the problem is that everytime i try to install something like adobe flash player, it'll say something.dll is missing or something like that. So could u tell me how to fix it? thanks

  • @FireDragonN4tsu Sounds like you need to reinstall everything.

If you installed on an external drive, that might be the cause of the problem.

    Windows XP is kinda primitive

  • I went and did what you said. I bought an external cd drive w/ an eject button. going to try it. If this works, I don't need home premium right? thx

  • @prtyg75 Nope.

  • @The89Lunder I thought I was doing well. I went to disk utility and when I click on the partitioned drive where I laid Win XP disc 1 and is now called untitled after clicking on that drive in disk util and clicking erase. I did the most basic erase by clicking only 'erase,' vs erase free space or 'security options.' Nothing else happens. I know that i can only proceed to boot camp when I am able to get the entire drive to be a single Mac OS Extended (journaled) volume. (Continued nxt pst)

  • @The89Lunder (continued) Part of me thinks maybe I should click the 'restore' tab in disk util, then take the Mac OS the source and drag to the destination. A little confused. Any ideas? thx very much

  • @prtyg75 I am sorry, I don't understand what you are writing?

  • um if i install windows can i switch between windows and mac osx?

  • @puffleperson Sure, I tell how you do that, in the ned of the video!

  • thanks alot for your response. Media Edition is exactly what I have. The others versions, don't have two discs? What's media edition anyway? I am planning to buy W7, which version do you recommend and does it have 2 discs as well? Thanks again.

  • @prtyg75 Media Center has a program called Windows Media Center wich can be used to watch and record TV, if the computers has a TV-tuner. Windows 7 has this too. There is more content in Media Center edition of XP, thats why its on 2 discs. Windows 7 is on a DVD, so there only is one. The version you need is properly Home Premium, most people needs that.

  • Your video is good but here's my problem. My windows xp edition uses two discs. While I get prompted to install the second disc, there is no way during the install in windows to eject the disc. I cannot get there through the normal way, start, my computer, click on the drive and eject. That option is not available to me during this juncture of the install so I cannot complete the install properly. How do you install disc 2 during the install? Please let me know. Thx, Dave

  • @prtyg75 Since its 2 discs. My guess is that is is Windows XP Media Center Edition. Anyway, the problem is the same. I have tried it. The only solution is an external CD drive. With an eject button on it.

  • All drivers installed. How can I get a gamepad to work?

  • @JuJuStarBerry996 Well, there is many gamepads out there. And no real experience with gamepads. But to google the issue. If you are running Windows on the Mac, then look away from the fact that it is a Mac when you search.

I don't use a gamepad myself, so I don't really know much about this.

  • I dont' have another mouse, unfortunately. I'm guessing that I'll have to get one then. Thanks.

  • @Adgertesse Well, shortcuts can do most of the tricks. In windows the CMD key will act as the Windows key.

To open explorer hold down winked + E

To switch between stuff, click tab (the button at the left of Q)

Open stuff with the return key.

ALT + F4 will close the active window or program.

Maybe this can help you install the right drivers (Maybe some already downloaded to a USB key from Mac OS X)

  • I've downloaded XP on my Mac Pro, but can't use the mouse. I've downloaded the drivers that I want to use, but unsure as to how to get them either into Boot Camp or XP. I read that I have to use the Mac OS disc, but unsure as to when - not being able to use the mouse yet, I haven't gotten to the point that you did in the video.

  • @Adgertesse I suspect you are using a bluetooth mouse?

If you have another USB mouse around, try to connect that.

You can use a USB thumb drive to copy things between mac and windows

  • problem. i am at the point of installing the drivers or whatever after installing xp and i cannot do a thing and my window xp wont recognize my apple cd/ i cannot install the other discs that come with the xp which im assuming are the windows drivers..

  • @GT0wned1 Try to boot from OS X, and download the drivers from Apples website. Click support and Downloads. Somewhere you should be able to find Bootcamp.

If you know how, try to show hidden files in Mac OS X, and copy the driver package from the CD under Mac OS X to a USB drive.

  • Hey I have installed but I have no sound I installed all drivers but still no sound can u help

  • @Ytownclown Try to run Apple Software update from Windows XP, or downloaded the latests versions of Bootcamp drivers from Apples website.

  • Thanks for your answers...all the best and Happy New Year ~_~

  • thanks for the reply The89Lunder

another question can I upgrade to Leopard or similar so it will install winxp from disc that I have, I currently cant get online with optus wireless broadband on powerbook G4 so i'll have to use my other laptop Acer with win7. ~_~

  • @scout5602 PowerPC Mac can't run windows at all. And all the G series mac are PowerPC. So even if you give it Leopard, it can't run Windows. You will need a Mac with an Intel processor

  • Do you know if winxp can be put on Panther 10.3 powerbook G4 ~_~

  • @scout5602 Sorry, only Intel computers, running Leopard or newer. Even Tiger on Intel is ruled out, since the bootcamp released for Tiger only was a beta, wich Apple removed when Leopard was released.

  • wait im unsure... do you have to have pc to have bootcamp

  • @callofdutywatcher Not at all. Just a Windows CD.

  • You don't happen to be Danish do you?

  • @yacroon As it happens, I do. :-)

  • does this work on os x lion?

  • @joman33333 As far as I can work out, it should.

  • hey i have a question.. mmm i have to have the windows cd or can i download it from any page like taringa?? cuz if it has to be the cd i would need the codes right? and if i can download it where can i do it? thanx

  • @osito010493 Well I don't know taringa. But you do need a CD to install it.

How to get without buying it, I don't know. Sorry :-(

  • um for my mac it says that i need 10 gb of space free to boot but i go into my folder and it says i have 12gb is there a problem or something i hve to do?

  • @Duherro1 Well the issue is quite simple. But the solution almost impossible. When you have free space, not all of it is at the end of the hard drive. And if the Mac can't move the files. You can't make the partition for Windows. And you might get an error like that. The solution is to reinstall you Mac, or moving all your stuff to an external hard drive, and then install Windows. And the moving stuff part might not even work. I can't guarantee it anyway. Sorry :-(

  • I just replaced my old junky windows xp pc with a Mac, this is the list thing I'd expect people to want to install on it.

  • @Labzo441 I couldn't agree more. But some people still need it. And heres how. Tim Cook (Current CEO of Apple), said a few years ago "This is one of the things that removes the fear from switching to Mac, just like an insurance policy does" And that he thinks is one of the key reasons why 50% of the Macs Apple sell is to people who are new to the Mac!

  • @The89Lunder Yeah, I guess it's cool you can have the choice. i love my new mac so there's no need to revisit xp lol. i'm such a newb on it though. That does make sense because some people are afraid of change. I had xp since 2001 so I'm pretty much sick to my ass of it lol.

  • my mac doesn't seem to recognize the CD ):

  • It stops the download. in the middle.

  • i dont have the windows XP CD...I have the installation files on a USB...Seems like I cant install the XP in my MAC coming from an USB..is this a problem???

  • @rodolforocker2001 Take a look at my slipstream Windows XP with service packs. That will help you make a CD. Even if you only have the files on a USB stick.

  • thanks for all your great help

could have not setup my Microsoft wm7

    on our macbook pro

  • You sound like a elf off of oblivion :P nurmof sound suitable for a name. Trololol

  • The New MAC OS 10.7.X installing Bootcamp is totally different.

    1. Run Bootcamp and set partition.

    2. Reboot and hold the ALT key down to get to the "TWO DRIVE" screen.

    3. Insert the XP disk into the cd drive and wait for it to appear on the screen.

    4. Click on it to start the install of XP windows.

    5. It shows it can't use the existing partition..delete it and allow windows to create a new NTFS partition and reformat it.

    Good Luck

  • Asus -.-

  • I hav a Mac book pro with os x lion in it. The boot camp in it does not detect the Windows xp cd. It is asking for Windows 7 disc.. any solution ?

  • @thrive2010rahul If it was bought with Mac OS X Lion on it. Windows XP is no longer supported. However if has had Snow Leopard or Leopard before. You can hold ALT down at the reboot (Just before the chimes sounds) and then you can boot from the CD.

I am trying to make a video about how to install Windows 7, but i can't really find the time. I am quite busy with work at the moment.

  • Do I need to install an anti-virus system for windows? Or does it use my mac system to protect it?

  • @pantsthattravel When installing Windows via Bootcamp. Its is 99% like having a Windows PC. So yes, Anti-virus is needed.

Oh, and the 1% is the little sign on the computer that says "Mac". Thats better than any windows PC ;-)

  • @The89Lunder Having used macs and XP for over 10 years. Compatibility with MAC computers is just garbage.

  • @tkotomy Have you tried the new Mac OS X Lion. I my opinion it is far better in the Windows World than Snow Leopard!

  • @The89Lunder hmmm no i haven't to be honest! What's different in it?

  • @tkotomy Fast answer.

I have experienced many times in SL that my windows machines arrant detected. Now Lion sees them every time. So the network discovery, and file shareing is far better, and faster.

Mail also seems to handle mails from Outlook and Windows Live Mail different. I don't receive any raw text mails anymore, I did on SL. Thats what i can think of quickly. And in general I think there's many improvements in Lion. Except for Exposé :-) (aka Mission Control), that's a step back.

  • @The89Lunder Interesting, how do i upgrade my snow leopard if you dont mind?

  • @tkotomy Run the software update on your Mac, to make sure you have the 10.6.8 version. And then through the Mac app store. You buy Lion for 29.99 US Dollars. And in about 2-3 hours, your mac is upgraded.

You can read more at Apple(dot)com(slash)macosx and then you click "How to upgrade"

  • are you danish

  • Hi, my mac says that i need at least 10gb of free space to partition, and when i check how much free space i have, i have 27gb 8^|

    Please help

  • @gongboy3 I can't do much about a full hard drive. I can tell you to try and clean up some old files you don't need anymore. Thats all. Or buy a bigger hard drive!

  • Does this work with Macbook White 2007 Duo core 2.0 Ghz 1 GB ram?

Also does this slow your macbook down?

  • @VueeyNZaay It sure does!

And no, this does not slow down your Mac. It consumes hard drive space. But nothing else!

  • @VueeyNZaay

it only slows your mac down, when you're in xp and in mac, when you're in a virtual machine,...

but in this case you start them apart and not at the same time, so it doesnt slow down at all...

But if you start windows in a virtual machine, it will not work with 1 GB of Ram and 2.0 Ghz...

i have a laptop with 2.5 GB of Ram and a 2.0 Ghz AMD Processor, and it really slows down my pc...

  • I have a problem . i cant seem to partition windows more than 5 GB. what should i do .

  • @aloy101268 I need more details about your mac. How much space do you have free on the hard drive. Total?

  • i cant see my mac drive from windows ..

  • @beingRaghu After you update to the latest version of BootCamp on Windows. I think it should be possible!

  • can I buy ur windows xp disc? or at least tell me what specific disc I need for widows XP?

  • @rurudtsafg You need a Windows XP with Service pack 2 on it. But if you don't have that, you can "Slipstream" it with SP2 or 3. I have a guide on how to do on youtube. Take a look at my channel!

  • Hey the89lunder, i thought i would mention this lol. well anybody who wants to do this BUY WINDOWS 7 FULL VERSION HOME PREMIUM, ULTIMATE, OR THE OTHER ONE THEY HAVE LOL. Mac has stopped supporting windows xp so when u install windows at the end when u install the drivers from bootcamp from the windows side it says you need windows 7 so it wont work :( i tried

  • @desaunjaksn Hi, thanks a lot for that. I also am working on a new video guide for installation of Windows 7 on Mac.

  • @The89Lunder Cool, thanks. that will defiantly help me. i am buying windows 7 in a few days and im pretty sure its a little different setup.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITSSSS WOOORK THAAANKSSS YOOOOU IIIII LOOOOOVE YYYOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!

I Subscribe Fav and Likee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAAAANKS

    THIS GUUUUUY IS A GEEEENIUS:D

  • @MrFrankfurt431 Good thing it works. And thanks. But could you put Caps lock on a leach please? :-)

  • I havent bootcamp why? i cant find it please help!:(

  • @MrFrankfurt431 What Mac OS X version do you have. The first Mac's with leopard only had on the DVD. Tiger and below don't have Bootcamp.

  • @The89Lunder I have Snowleopard. please help me :(

  • @MrFrankfurt431 Start by finding the DVD you have with Snow Leopard, either the one you bought in the store, or the DVD 1 that came with your Mac. And insert it. Then you activate the finder. So the Finder menus is in the menubar. Then you select, GO, and GO TO FOLDER... There you type: / Volumes / NAME OF THE DVD / System / Installation / Packages (Without spaces, and beware it might be case sensitive) In here the installation of bootcamp should be!

  • @The89Lunder There is no Bootcamp but other Programms like Safari IChat, but no bootcamp

  • @MrFrankfurt431 Okay, thats strange, you can download Bootcamp here (Uploaded it from my own DVD) - tinyurl DOT com FORWARD SLASH 3mw9g92 -

Remove spaces, replace DOT with a dot, and change FORWARD SLASH to a forward slash

  • one question :on restart it boot directly on windows ,but i want to start mac osx

on every restart, in other words i want mac osx my primary sofware ?

  • @Kuifung Simple. When you have installed the Bootcamp utility in Windows XP. There is a Bootcamp symbol in the taskbar, next to the clock. Right click it, and choose restart to Mac OS X. That will set Mac OS X as the default.

  • I Have a Windows xp Professional version 2002. When i was installing it (blue screen) it said error. cant read disk. or somthing like that and then told me to put in a disk that was compatible and it had a list and one of them was windows xp home edition so i ordered that with sp3 so will that one work? i dont think the first one worked because i dont think it was sp2 or later. i actually just figured that out as i was writing this XD

  • @desaunjaksn Hi, well you didn't have to order a new Windows XP. You could have slipstreamed SP3 into it yourself.

All you need is a black CD and a program called nLite, and you can find it with google, and download it for free. Since its freeware!

  • @The89Lunder haha yes i did watch your video on how to slipstream, but soon found out i had no clue of what was going on. I got lost making all of the folders and moving things to places i didnt no where i was! so i decided that i should have payed attention in computer class :)

  • @desaunjaksn Thats fair enough! ;-)

  • does it still save my app ??

  • @bigboo10x What are you referring to?

  • When i try to install the drivers onto Windows Xp on my 2011 Macbook Pro, it comes up with a window saying "Bootcamp requires Windows 7."

This is a disappointment =( I guess the 2011s don't support Windows Xp.

  • @o0YumRamen0o More and more are writing about the problem. So it seems you are right.

  • @o0YumRamen0o I think it should work. Maybe you made a mistake on the bootcamp app.

  • help plz i ve lost my mac's installation cd can i download it from internet ? plz help!!

  • @sayyabtariqawan No, you can't.

You will have to buy the Snow Leopard DVD in the stores to get a new.

  • I've got a question: I have a MacBookPro 15" 2011 i7 2Ghz

And i have a XP disc. I've installed it on bootcamp, but when my computer restarted, he showed a black screen and this text: Hardware configuration bla bla bla...

And when i shut my computer down and restart him again, he does the same :(

What should i do??!!! I can't do anything now on my computer and he's brand new :,(

    HELP!!!!!!!!! someone??!!!!!!!!

  • @DxeZzPain Hold the ALT key down when you start your Mac. You must hold down before the startup chime. And then you will get a menu on your screen, where you can boot into Mac OS X again.

After that make sure in system prefrences you have the correct default start os. I show that in the end of the video.

  • @The89Lunder Ok thx it's solved. thx for the help :)

  • @DxeZzPain No problem

  • great video. i just have one quick question. i have an old HP Operating System DVD with windows XP Media Center on it(basically a OS recovery disc). i was wondering if i could use that instead of a regular XP cd. I have OS X Leopard

also, this is kind of off topic, but my friend just got a new mac and i was wondering if i could use his OS X DVD that came with his macbook to upgrade my OS to snow leopard.

    thanks

  • @teddyd2009 Many of the manufactures of computers tend to protect the CD's and DVD's so the only can be used with the computer they was shipped with. So using your HP DVD is a bit optimistic.

And the OS X DVD your friend has, if it was shipped with his computer, well Apple actually uses the same protection, so that is a no go. But if he bought it in a store to upgrade his computer, it will work just fine on your computer too. If it is not a family pack however, it is not legal. Just so you know

  • I tried, but WinXP doesn't seem to have ANY drivers on it. I get no sound, no internet connection, nothing in the little bar at the bottom right, can't even update. But I can still use the mouse and keyboard. I am on a 21.5"iMac. HELP!!

  • @TheGuitardude789 Hi

Have you inserted either your Mac OS X disc or Disc 1 from the package of the computer? The drivers are on it!

  • @The89Lunder yeah dont worry i fixed it. the mac osx disc didnt work cuz i was still using XP SP1. I needed to get SP3, so I did, went thru some complicated procedures with the help of a guy from the apple store, and it's working perfectly fine now. In fact, im commenting in windows right now hahaha

  • @TheGuitardude789 Good you got it working. Look out though I am working on a video on how you also can do it in a virtual PC.

  • It says Insert your WINDOWS 7 disk for me, after partition, can I still use WindowsXP`?

  • @LookItsOverThere I have been able to without any problems on my new MacBook Pro.

  • @The89Lunder I tried and it didn't work, oh well, I already have W7, thanks !

  • @wr14328 Honestly, i don't know. But it shouldn't

  • @The89Lunder Hey, Will this work if I have a pirated or non-genuine Copy of Windows Xp?

  • @Megabites46 Yes, as long as it has Service Pack 2 or 3

  • @The89Lunder Thanks!

  • @iBoarder88 Try to reinstall the drivers from the CD, or download a newer version of Bootcamp drivers from the Mac partition

  • @iBoarder88 Try to run Apple Software update on windows, it might be a driver that needs upgrading

  • is this illegal cause im getting macbook from skool for free and if i install this im afraid its illegal

  • @slideshowvid No its not illegal. Is just a secondary operating system.

  • Helpful tip if anyone has the same problem I did.

After installing everything & you find in XP on Bootcamp that your sound doesn't work 1: make sure all drivers are installed from mac cd 2: play around with sound options through start menu until you hear something. Keep wiggling the volume level until you hear the little blurp noise. You'll eventually get it. Now I can play my games woo! :o)

  • How long does the whole process take?

  • @latviandude Installing Windows XP takes about 30 minutes. And the preparations about 15 minutes.

The only thing you have to be aware of is that during most of the installation of Windows XP, you will need to stay at the computer, since it will ask several questions during installation.

  • @The89Lunder Thanks! Big Help!

  • ok everything work ok now how do I get to windows from mac

  • @GP1890 Same way. If you want your Mac to start in Windows as default you set it up in system prefrences, and then start disc.

I also do show it in the end of the video!

  • Great tutorial, I have used it many times. But yesterday me and my friend tried to do this and when the mac restartes it began the installation, when the installation was done it restarted and then it said "disk error, press any key to restart your computer." And the computer is stuck, It wont boot, but sometimes it's installing xp again when you boot it... What should we do?

    Please help us!!

  • @G4m1ller If you hold down the ALT key when starting the Mac. You can choose to start from Mac OS X again!

  • i can't see too much, maybe u can put some instructions...i'm trying to install a windows xp cdand after that i can't connect to internet and i don't have sound on it...i dunno what should i do..can u help me?thx

  • What if my Mac installation disc is missing ? :(

  • @DheaKDS Then you have to buy a new disc!

  • @The89Lunder Hehe , thanks and one more thing . I heard from someone that each disc operates in only the computer its meant to or something like that .

  • @DheaKDS That is a bit tricky. But here is the thing. You can buy OEM and Retail. A Retail can be moved from computer to computer. Over and over. OEM binds to the first computer it is installed on. And is not meant to be installed on other computers. But it can be done.

If you need Windows on multiple you can buy a familypack.

  • Hello, does the windows have to be an original copy?

i tried installing windows 7 using bootcamp, unfortunatly after installation is done, and when windows starts up for the first time, my macbook keeps on rebooting!

does anyone have a solution for this?

  • something a bit irrelevant...how did u screen record on mac?what were u using?

  • @platinum0walkthrough I am using Screenflow.

  • I have installed XP, everythings running smoothly, but i cannot find my original mac leopard os x disk. how do i get out of windows and without the disk, how will it affect windows?

    thanks

  • Uuuuu

  • My sound doesn't work. I already install the drivers

  • @Mauzmania If your sound doesn't work, then you need to update the drivers. Open Apple Software update on the computer, and get the latest drivers. (On Windows XP of Course)

  • Does bootcamp still work, even on the new mac book pro's

  • @brace110 Sure!

  • @The89Lunder Thanks!, I think I'm getting a new macbook pro then, and install windows xp on it

  • when i hold alt a lock picture comes up what can i do?

  • @IhelpYourMacLol A lock picture? Sounds strange. Could take a picture of it?

  • If I download XP on my macbook pro, am I able to upgrade to Windows 7 in the future?

  • @futuref22pilot That is both a yes, and a no. You can install Windows XP. But windows XP can't be upgraded to Windows 7. You will have to remove windows XP first, and then install Windows 7

  • @The89Lunder Thanks for the quick reply! I have an XP disc sitting by me right now so I was just wondering. How would I go on about deleting XP?

  • @futuref22pilot You open the Disk utility application. Go into partitions for your harddrive. And remove the Bootcamp partition. Resize your Mac partition to fill it out, and click apply. Windows removed.

Kun nogle enkelt IT butikker har XP idag. Det bedste resultat er nok at se om ikke du kan downloade en Volume License via en torrent. (Volume License, så slipper du for aktiverings bøvl)

  • PLZZZ HELLLLP!! now how do u change it back!!

  • @spikesan2211 If you have installed the Boot camp tools. You can rightclick the Bootcamp icon in the bottom right of the screen. As i show in the video.

If you have not, hold down the ALT key when you start your mac. Make sure to hold it before the chime.

    And choose Mac OS X.

In Mac OS X you can set Mac OS X to be default start OS in System Prefrences. As I also show in the video.

  • startup mac, go to bootcamp than go partition, remove partition to delete windows
