A woman can call the police and have her husband/boyfriend thrown out of the home even if she lies about what he did. If a woman says he's abusive, "it must be so." Women have SO MANY MORE RIGHTS, that this sappy piece of nonsense is laughable. Look at commercials: Every woman is smarter, kinder, and more responsible than the man, but they stilll complain...
personally, I would love to understand it all. I would gladly love to hold the door open for any woman... but it was hammered into me as a young man by feminist that was a custom to reinforce weakness about women. As far as what kind of sexual image I enjoy about women... well, I like the ones where a woman is being herself. Take charge of what thing are by saying what is wanted. I have 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters... I want them to have a fulfilling future.
Hey Oprah-- could you please practice what you're moralizing to us about? Your magazine is full of ads telling women we're not pretty enough if we don't buy their products, "stories" whose authors drone on about what they hate about their bodies (and how all women can understand-- because, you know, we're women and we must all hate our bodies or something.) And pages of unaffordable fashion that out-ratio any substantive articles.
Who is making all these sick porn movies, Women. And I noticed all the women you had on this documentary were libs, where were these women when Sarah Palin needed their support. Nice try but nothing new here, just liberal women trying to do what, I really don't see anything new here. Same old, same old, since the 60's.
@nightsfire Rice told us we have many loving Islamic partners, and that Israel is really the bad guy. How many articles have been written about this incompetent "woman."?
@gicody These women are a relatively small part of the American female population. When they gave Hillary or Palin their support, they were outnumbered by those women more interested in a black president (a pattern seen before in history: sexism treated as less important than racism). The purpose of this documentary is to help women realize exactly what it is they're unconciously living by so that it no longer is "same old same old since the 60's".
I remember when I was in college (a million years ago), I was reading Shape magazine. They had posted a pic of a REAL woman and so many women wrote in saying how "fat" and "unattractive" she was. Dove, posted those pictures of real women too. Notice how the "real women" are becoming more and more model looking. I think we are our worst enemies. I truly want to see this and I surely hope women see--truly see! We are a powerful gender, but have been so misled.
When we respect each other, when women stand together as sisters...then we will take back our self respect. Sponsor a screening in your area, share this video with every women and girl you know, show it on every campus in America and keep respecting each other....lets be the change we want to see.
How many of those same women would actually do their job without wearing make up? (Kinda hypocritical) It's the public that wants to see those things, I'm not so sure you can uncondition their way of thinking....perhapes it is possible.
I understand your point of view. It feels like the public wants these things so the media responds. But who is the public..... WE are the public. We make these decisions too. We buy magazines with demeaning advertising in them, we buy clothing with demeaning ads, cars, restaurants, you name it....we participate in it too. If we change the channel, don't buy the items attached to sexist advertising and respect our fellow women, we will be the change we want to see.
@Sahbisun It's not the makeup that's bad, it's how you put it on. Do you try to accent your best features with a few simple cosmetics or do you wear a lot to resemble Britney Spears? There's a difference between looking put together and presentable vs. having everyone look at you because you look and therefore act like a sex object.
Mm, I didn't hear them mention tacky or well put together. I believe confidence comes from within, and can't be worn on the outside. (Make up imo covers up a lot of female insecurity.) It's not my norm to wear make up, i find it to be misleading. I do wear it sometimes for fun, but never to accent my features. The way I see it,.. it is what it is. (Why try to alter/ cover up my flaws with make up?) Better yet, as a woman, who am I trying to impress if I add make up to my face?
POWERFUL!! WANT TO SEE THIS!! BUT EVERYONE "NEEDS" TO SEE AND UNDERSTAND THIS TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGES IN OUR SOCIETY THAT WILL EQUATE TO THE BETTERMENT OF EVERYONE!! THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!

@gicody which is why it needs to change. . . . which is why the documentary is so good, because it's talking about it.

#1) Someone once said, "Chivalry is dead, and women killed it."
#2) By the attitude and (lack of) "respect," that women in the media
give to other women, it is women who are often their own worst
enemies.
#3) If a woman identifies as Conservative or Republican, the left-
wing media women treat them worse than men do. (?Can you
say "Katie Couric.")
#4) For instance, H. Clinton as Secretary of State gets a free
pass for carrying C. Rice's war "based on lies and oil."
Fess up, women.

@SouLoveReal fess up to what? being sexist against ourselves because the patriarchy and media raise us to think this way? hmmmmmm
