The LS1 F-body's can easily and cheaply be built to over 500hp at the wheels N/A. If you throw on some serious twin turbos, there are plenty of forced induction camaros making well over 1000hp. The camaros are more aerodynamic and the LS1's are way better than the ford modular V8.

There is so much stuff about the cars 'weight' listed here. The cars are not even close to stock, the Camaro has tons of stuff removed and weighs around 3,000lbs. It also dead hooks hard on black top. The stang overpowers the tires, has to launch with zero boost, spools and then spins. It ran faster turned down. Not a good street car, but fun as hell. Made for some close racing.
@charger1970and68 it breaths better has a higher rev limit and also has a higher displace ment than ls1. so all it is had better vavles is small things to help the efficency of the engine n ls2 gives better fuel economy as well
The 03-04 cobras are kickass and I hate ford, the lightning is badass too, but I own a 01 WS6 and so much depends on driver, stock vs stock a 01-02 LS1 F body only will be even with 03-04 cobra, thats saying alot for ford to keep with or beat the fastest 2 years of the LS1 WS6,SS,firehawk,vette, but yes it does have a supercharger, I looked down on the ZR1 when GM made the worlds fastest production car, so now I think it is fair to say...how is ford gonna beat that? @c24balla Auto is harder to get power through it but, man will NEVER shift faster than a auto. Auto is better for racing, manual is better for dd and they are more fun.
@c24balla autos are better for drags because the shifts are electronic, and it is far less likely to miss a gear. the whole deal is, that the electronic system can shift faster than any standard transmission. albeit you need to tune the computer to run to higher revs

Mid 80's to 93 the 5.0s, z28, and Iroc, camaro 305 not worth mentionning the titles went back and forward with 5.0s winning most of the time. 94-98 gt got smoked by z28s. The cobra held their own against the ss, but was still bested including the 99/01 although 01 cobra was pretty fast. 99-04 gt was cool but not enough for z28s. Term terminated the SS for 8 yrs. SS got a short lived vengance in 2010, til 2011 5.0s hit the streets. Dodge is back 392

The LS1 F-body's can easily and cheaply be built to over 500hp at the wheels N/A. If you throw on some serious twin turbos, there are plenty of forced induction camaros making well over 1000hp. The camaros are more aerodynamic and the LS1's are way better than the ford modular V8.

There is so much stuff about the cars 'weight' listed here. The cars are not even close to stock, the Camaro has tons of stuff removed and weighs around 3,000lbs. It also dead hooks hard on black top. The stang overpowers the tires, has to launch with zero boost, spools and then spins. It ran faster turned down. Not a good street car, but fun as hell. Made for some close racing.

The 03-04 cobras are kickass and I hate ford, the lightning is badass too, but I own a 01 WS6 and so much depends on driver, stock vs stock a 01-02 LS1 F body only will be even with 03-04 cobra, thats saying alot for ford to keep with or beat the fastest 2 years of the LS1 WS6,SS,firehawk,vette, but yes it does have a supercharger, I looked down on the ZR1 when GM made the worlds fastest production car, so now I think it is fair to say...how is ford gonna beat that? Wondering how the fight will go over the next few years with chevys new LT1, and ford new 5.8L gt500(hope they improve the traction problem on this thing). This is really getting good. Hope Dodge come up with something else or that 392 will get left in the dust without mods. My dads a mopar man, got uncles the or for chevy, I like and respect all three but I favor the mustang. I had a 90 5.0 hatch, have a 97gt conv 180kmiles and counting, mostly highway never had motor problems, have a 2011 3.7L

Like today, camaros haven't ways been superior. Mid 80's to 93 the 5.0s, z28, and Iroc, camaro 305 not worth mentionning the titles went back and forward with 5.0s winning most of the time. 94-98 gt got smoked by z28s. The cobra held their own against the ss, but was still bested including the 99/01 although 01 cobra was pretty fast. 99-04 gt was cool but not enough for z28s. Term terminated the SS for 8 yrs. SS got a short lived vengance in 2010, til 2011 5.0s hit the streets. Dodge is back 392

Chevy boys had no problems laughing when their 350 cu.in engines were outrunning the 281 cu.in Fords. @blackcrisis2004 01-02 LS1 z28,trans am,SS ended up running with the vettes 1/4 mile times in them years and WS6/firehawk were ahead of c5 vette and were even with the 03-04 cobras stock for stock in any article you can find from back then. 98-00 F body= 13.8 w/auto,13.6 w 6spd. 01-02 z28,SS,T/A,WS6,Firehawk= 13.4 w/auto, 13.2 w 6spd, motor trend got a 99 z28 to run 12.99 somehow when the same year trans am went 13.5, then a 2001 WS6 they tested went 12.91 against 01 SS=13.3 and 01 vette=13.4.

@mrsrazzle1 yea that 2001 ws6 was badass, they even looked the part. i loved that fucken hood, but i didn't care for the inside though. if i saw one foe a good price, i think i would still buy one, just to have it. i used to want one sooo bad.

Why are people arguing this, the gt has plenty more power and no the camaro is not lighter unless it has major weight reduction. I know because I have one. Mustang chassis is a bit lighter plus a lot more power, ofcourse its going to pull like it did. Duh.

93740il who the fuck cares that gm got bail out money...!?! They paid all the money back! Why does no one bring up how many times dodge was bailed out by the government...? Or how many other companies have been handed money!?! Part of the reason ford has been more successful in the past is because ford advertised soo much more then gm.
