  • i remember hearing and loving this song back when i was a little kid, I never realized back then that i would feel every bit of this song the way i do now. I love it even while it's killing me

  • Alright... Who clicked the dislike button....? Just someone trying to be different..

  • I totally agree with Bobbybishopbuffalo....miss this music on the radio! This is also one of my all time favorite songs! Have seen Daryl and John in concert twice....such a good time! Live From Daryl's House has some good stuff on it.

  • thanks for uploading this, brings back memories of being young, sat on the couch listening to my mum singing along while she was cleaning the house. No wonder she used to enjoy doing the chores back then!

  • It doesn't get any better than this. Great band.

  • @sorstudios Exactly!!!!!

  • awesome! one of my fave songs from them.

  • I wonder why they changed the lyrics of the song?

  • legends at work

  • saw the open up for Journey in 1981 at angels camp California, i was just 18, i will never forget it, it was so awesome >:]

  • perfecto!!!!

  • When they sounded awesome together!

  • Blue-eyed soul at its finest. This is just too beautiful!

  • Just saw them in concert about a month ago, and they still bring it. Timeless classic.

  • Remember loving this as a child, very surprised to learn who the singers were. I just assumed they were black soul singers. Not that it matters but as a child I identified these types of voices only with black singers. So wrong was I. Love it.

  • @Ilovemusic42 Saw this post and just had to comment because i used to think it was black singers too, i was just a kid also...So it turns out they released this song in "74, but it didnt chart too high, like #60...Then it was covered by a group Tavares, a black soul group, where it topped R&B charts....Then H&O re-released the song in '76-'77, when it went to #7 on the billboard charts...So i believe we heard BOTH versions as kids and I distinctly remember the Tavares version....

  • I listen to the odd tune here and there from music now but THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! This is just soul through and through, the 60s to the late 90s was a fantastic time for real music. Wish I was there in this era sometimes just for some of the music.

  • Awesome

  • Ahhh, real music at last!

  • I heard this song on the radio today....it will never get old for me. Such beautiful voices and harmonizing...will last through the test of time....keep it up boys!

  • a masterpiece. what sterling songwriting. beautiful harmonies:)

  • Wow this is so cool the acoustic and what voices. I love it!

  • if Daryl and John had never met....i would wish i had never been born!!!!!!

  • They sound awesome. Their vocals are so tight!

  • @mnnorthcountrygirl1 Did you just call it 'acoustic treatment?' Wow. How about it just sounds good.

  • I was merely making the point that sometimes less is more. And yes, it sounds good.

  • The most amazing version of this song!!!! Just gives me goosebumps when I hear it. There's not another white guy walking the planet that can sing that kinda soul. Just love Daryl 2 death :)

  • what the fuck happened to mtv?

  • daryl should rock the ponytail more often!

  • Should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

  • what GREAT real pro musicians !!

  • Tremendously underrated and generally under-recognized, one of the singerr / songwriter duos of their generation

  • that was nice of them to sing this on my birthday when i turned 19!

  • Yeah..it really is special

  • I need a drink and a quick decision....

My face aint looking any younger.........

Love has taken its toll on me..............

    They're gone,,,it went so wrong.

    RIP,B.W.J. 1961-2005

    R.I.P MY LOVE 1966 -2005

  • Two members of this band are gone, now.

    RIP Bobby Mayo

    RIP T-Bone Wolk

  • Does anyone do blue-eyed soul better than these two cats?

  • @luv4allmusik hell to the no!!!! nobody else can come close to these guys!!!! supa bad for two guys from philly, who studies the masters and sang doo wop and street harmony music growing up. you can tell they appreciate real soul music, listen to their voices and how they craft their songwriting technics.

  • Hey videeojunke, I'm right with you, Bro! I've heard this song a million times, and I won't grow tired of it if I hear it a million more times! The actual "Abandoned Lunchonette" that was on their album cover is only about 20 minutes from my home. The last time I drove by, it was still standing. People visit it like it's a religious shrine! Is it any wonder why?

  • @videeojunke that's why i love em... we are from Philly area also...it just goes to show that if you study the masters, you just may unlock your own genius...as with Hall

  • beautiful song

  • The ho is gone..she's gone...

  • saw them do a concert in boston a few years ago. their voices are the same as in the 70's. GREAT!!!

  • Amazing how the lyrics cut straight to the soul...she's gone :. (

  • Quickly becoming one of my favorite Hall and Oates songs

  • i love it.

  • Good Lord do they sound good!!

  • Holy cow!! The Unplugged versions of most songs rank right on up there with the original versions. You can hear the lyrics and other things that are hidden by all the amps and other instruments.

Truely another classic version of this song.

  • First time I've heard this version, it's better than the original studio version!

  • Stellar! Classic H n O in it's purest form.
