  • I'm lazy to do research so I'll just ask you people. :) You can't store data on it, you can only download text data temporarly from the amazon servers for the time of reading right? This means that illegal content can not be read on it. Correct me if Im' wrong please, thanks.

  • @jajajah86 The Amazon Kindle has up to 4 GB of internal storage for offline reading.

  • este video del kindle ya está algo obsoleto...

  • I've been thinking about our future tonight and I must say, technology is advancing but may kill us. Book stores are closing, CD stores are closing. Even schools are closing. It's ridiculous. Kids these days just eat fast food and play video games, while people from older generations were actually ACTIVE. Why must we create technology that will harm us in the near future?

  • Fuck these electronic books. In the future, the despot will only have to push a single button to burn books.

    Fucking humans...DEMAND PAPER!!!

  • Paper destroy Amazon forest

  • Books are very better!!!

  • Is "Teenage Vigilante" available for the Kindle?

  • Comment removed

  • this is possibly the most disgusting piece of merchandise i've ever seen

  • Download free ebooks on how to earn a steady profit online: ?v=ESfeCWAPICE

  • can you only buy kindles on amazon.com ???

  • @backstepcindy You can also buy them at your local Staples office supplies store.

  • does this reads .pdf from your computer?

  • @mikr0bas Yes. Go to Amazon.com's online help and look for the section entitled "Transferring, Downloading, and Sending Files to Kindle".

  • Comparing this to an IPAD is stupid!!!

  • Can I view my own PDF files on a Kindle??? If so how so?

  • @EWLGtoday Go to Amazon.com's online help and look for the section entitled "Transferring, Downloading, and Sending Files to Kindle".

  • @computerworld Thank YOU!

  • @EWLGtoday can find answer i have many pdf books and i wanna read it on that gadget can i do that or no and if it countine usb port or micro card port??

  • books of clickbanck in alexhuaraca.es.tl

  • And here comes the IPAD .. i wonder what will amazon kindle and sony e reader do to beat it :P ??? lollllllllllllllllllllll

  • They don't have to do much of anything right now to beat it, they are 2 completely different devices. Plus the ipad is pretty limited in the quantity of books compared to amazon or B&N. Most people aren't going to be buying an iPad for the ebooks, as long reading of books is much better on an e-ink screen because of less eye strain. Now if the iPad had a Pixel Qi screen that would be another matter...

  • @desitorrentsfanclub

Yeah, let's compare apples to oranges. Let's compare trucks to motorcycles. Let's compare netbooks to PC's. Idiot.

  • what the fuck is wrong with reading a regular book, i love books, i love the why they look, i love the why they feel, and i love to have lots of them in a book shelf,

  • u obviously dont read enough as u replaced way with why

  • Have u ever had sex with one of your books?

  • try reading a dictionary once in a while. it'll do you good.

  • I loooooooove to read, and my mom wants to buy me an ebook. she says it will save money because it will cost less than all the books that I buy.

  • Does no one else realize this is ugly as a cell phone from the 80s? It's a brick.

  • i want this instead of buying a regular book

  • can i ask, can you write stories

  • beautiful!! (sorry for my english) i think it's an erroe!! e-book..not only with one page! but with two page like a real book!!

  • i like books more! their great new paper smell, their nice spines and covers. It's nice to see peoplle on the subway reading a book and starting a conversation about the book, because you've also read it.

I love doing into a book store and look at the different colors of the book covers and I also like that every book is unique.

  • you should be a librarian or something...

  • haha maybe.

  • show it changing pages, then everyone will know how lame e-ink is.

  • Can you explain how it changes ink and why it's lame? I wanna know.

  • When you change pages on any e-ink device (kindel is one) the screen flashes, it goes black for half a second, then renders the next page. It is very lame.

If you want an ebook reader get an ebookwize

If you want a wireless downloading handheld, get a smartphone. (HTC or something as good)

  • lol what did you expect? 0.0001 ms response time? this is a device for reading books not for playing fps games!!!

It would be a great device if only it would be cheaper.

  • No, I expect the same as ANY OTHER ebook reader that doesn't use the e-ink software..

There are MANY other ebook readers that are years older and hundereds of dollars less than the kindle that have seamless page turning..

Even the smartphone I use now (a cell phone, not at all made for FPS games) has seamless page turning in 10 diffrent ebook reading programs.. The kindle is useless feature rich, but when it comes to funcion, it is worse than readers a third the price and years older.

  • i don't argue with that man but i bet that no other e-book reader can run for 1 week straight.

  • Sony Reader wins. I don't care much for wireless download if they are gonna cost me.

  • The review is actually incorrect. You don't actually have to pay to download content or to convert content, only if you want to have it converted and 'directly' sent to your kindle. You can have books converted for free and download to your computer, then transfer to your kindle using usb, exactly the way the sony reader works. So basically you can use it like the sony reader, or you can have the convenience of wireless transfer. And wireless books sell with no extra cost for transfer.

  • Me neither, however wifi on the kindle is free.

you're only able to browse Amazon and wikipedia though...

  • It actually has a web browser built in but it is "experimental" and uses the page forward/back buttons to scroll up/down...

It also doesn't support some things on websites

  • You know Electronic books is a great concept, but it lacks the ability to network all the other companies together so that people can universally use the device they like, I mean does anyone buy books that's not from Amazon?

  • "I mean does anyone buy books that's not from Amazon?"

    Yes, of course.

    Google "free ebooks"

    or search "ebooks" on eBay.

You can buy something like 17,000

    (yes, that's seventeen THOUSAND)

public domain books on DVD for around $30.00

and stick them in your Kindle.

  • Sony Reader requires M$ WinDoze... YUCK!

Kindle has no OS requirements... MMMMM! :)

  • lol

  • There is a way to get the kindle to work on mac as well.

Ofcourse one can upload books just like on a USB device, and will be viewable on all OS'es.

you just don't have the wifi, and perhaps blogs or newspaper updates.

  • sony reader is better, because you can put your personal content on it from your computer hassle free.

  • The Sony PRS-500 has been out for over a year now. In addition, it can display both txt and rtf files without conversion. I believe the Kindle can display txt and prc(unencrypted mobipocket) files.
