The microcosm example as stated below is accurate. I've known guys who were complete idiots or were geniuses. A mortarman I knew had a degree from MIT. I've known guys who were rich kids and guys whose only family is the military. Thing is, even if they aren't laughing, it makes them feel good to know that people with no reason to care, do.

Murder and rape issues aside(because they're absurd), could you validate your claim that we're taking oil or any other resource from foriegn countries? Last time I checked (30 minute internet search just now) the government purchases all resources that we don't have naturally. @mattgetssit half of them cheered and laughed. What people dont understand about the military is that it is a microcosm of the united states. Any person you find in the U.S. will be in the military. Also if you go to a Maria Bamford show , only her fans will be there. This croud consists of all of the military, not just fans of Maria Bamford. If you randomly gathered 1000 people of the streets of the U.S. and put them in front of Maria Bamford, this is what would happen.
