  • what does this beauty give you to a gallon?

  • MASTERWITCHDOCTOR I will never doupt the hull of the 43 Torres is the 1271 and the little amount of torque they make that I doupt, now if you talk about a C18 or a 3412 or C32 then your talking the 43 is my favorite hull and the fastest hull for lobster and crabbing.

  • There is a very easy way to identify the 12v71 and 12v92 just by looking at them. The 12v71 has inline 6 71 heads, the 12v92 has 4 6v92 heads. The 12v71 TI I have in my boat (43 foot Torres Key West hull) was built by Key power in Miami. It's rating was 840 hp @ 2400 rpm. according to Key power this is the highest out of a twin turbo. The 900 hp turbo 12 has 4 turbo chargers. FYI my boat ran 30+ knots, planed 40,000 lbs and ran 22 knots fully loaded and burned 30 gallons per hour.

  • @MasterWitchDoctor I really doupt that a 43 with a 1271 840 hp with 500 crab traps will do 22 knots, where is your boat I would love to see it, how many lobster traps can you plane with that boat?

  • @stnghgg05 My boat the Capt' Peg Leg along with the Good Luck, Carrie Lynn, Tuffer N Me too, and several other 43' Torress hulls would all run 30+ knots light, 22 knots loaded. The boat is in Everglades City. If you know anything about the south west Florida coast, Everglades City's history in general you will understand. Doubting it shows me you don't know much about a 43' Torress hull and what they where built for, Stone Crabbing and craw fishing wasn't it, that I assure you.

  • @MasterWitchDoctor I grew up on a 43 Torres and like Everglade City, my hometown Marathon has many of the fastest 43 in Florida and you probably already know that, if you know what I mean, would you like me to mention a few FAST 43's or will the OVERDUE do it for you? and as a matter of fact I know Cluady Torres personally.

  • It felt so goooood to hear old schoolpower again in an age of clean air nonesense madness. That Detroit sounded soooooooooo sweet.

  • That´s a 12V-71 you can see it on the Valve cover bolts, if it was a "92" then the bolts would be around the edge.

  • @fredericia01....If it was 92series, it would have 4valve covers...not two, because unlike the 12v71...the 12v92 was comprised of Two seperate 6v92's joined together. The 12v71 was the only engine produced by Detroit consisting of more than 8 cylinders that was designed and cast as single block and having a True V12 firing order, ALL the others, in all series, 53,71,

92 and 149's used two seperate engines to make one.

  • hay "look" !! i see a oil leak do you see it its right there in the midle of the screen. beleave it or not its in the whole video can you see it

  • never seen a detroit leak oil.

  • i have a 485hp cummins in my pete, and it has 1850 torque....so i can't even imagine how much torque a 950hp one has

  • um no it doesnt you only have 1475 torque.hahahhahahahah

  • Robby you have no idea what you're talking about. I drive a Peterbilt 386, and it has 485hp Cummins ISX with the 1850 torque rating. It says the torque rating and HP on a metal plaque on the engine. Check. There is also a 1650 version. Check their website b4 u say stuff that makes u look dumb.

  • sad thing is i did check the website.and i work on flatcams for a living.website and books claim 1475 torque. for the 485

  • ISX Ratings Engine Model Advertised hp (kW) Peak Torque lb-ft (N•m) @ rpm ISX 600 600 (447) 2050 (2779) @ 1200 ISX 600 600 (447) 1850 (2508) @ 1200 ISX 550 550 (410) 1850 (2508) @ 1200 ISX 525 525 (392) 1850 (2508) @ 1200 ISX 500 500 (373) 1850 (2508) @ 1200 ISX 500 500 (373) 1650 (2237) @ 1200 ISX 485 485 (362) 1850 (2508) @ 1200 ISX 485 485 (362) 1650 (2237) @ 1200 ISX 450 450 (336) 1650 (2237) @ 1200 ISX 450 450 (336) 1550 (2102) @ 1200 COPIED N PASTED.
  • how much does that do?.5 miles to the gallon?

  • noo more like 3.5 maybe a lil less

  • That depends how he drives it. Besides somethings you need that kind of power.

  • by the way this is a detroit diesel 12v71TT 2 stroke for anyone who doesn't kno or wants too the 12 means its a 12 cylinder the v means its a v configuration and the 71 means 71 inches peer cylinder but it might have bored out idk all teh specs and the double T's means its a twin turbo

  • Betcha a nickle it's a 12V-92T. They're both about the same looking and sounding but the 92-series is a little newer motor. Basically a bored-out 12V-71. Same stroke on both. Stock truck 8V-92T's were about 435 HP so an extra 4-cylinders and another turbo and a little hopping-up makes 950 pretty possible.

  • You never ever bore a 71 or 92 series sleeve, you replace them. They insert into the block and have an o-ring at the top under the cylinder head to seal the compression. Mine is a Key Power 12v71 TI as in turbo charged (twin) with inter-coolers mounted on the blowers. Output is 840 hp @ 2400 rpm. Its in a 43 foot Torres hull with a twin disc 2:1 gear. light it runs 30+ knots, loaded 22 knots with 500 80 lb (40,000 lbs) stone crap traps on the deck.

  • there is no replacement for displacement

  • How much hp is that putting out?

  • lol the proper question would be tourqe, i dont know much about big deisels but i would put money on, upwards of a 1000 foot lbs

  • id say your a couple thousand low

  • i wouldnt doubt it for a second

  • over 3000 lb/tq if 950 hp :P

  • it says 950hp on the side sof the block search around for pics it'll show it

  • Amazing engine
