  • what a long winded shit talker

  • It's too bad this went on a seemingly permanent hiatus, as I really enjoyed this series and I learned a great deal from it too. If you have any plans to revive it that would definitely be somehting I would be interested in and watch. I even have a slew of questions I could ask :)

Space has always fascinated me, and I have learned so much from your live chats, your Q&BA videos, even the questions from kids videos. Keep up the great work

  • wow i went to that webpage u talked about saying that those guys r really good.............as it turns out they r awfull atleast for me. U r much much much better in explaining and describing stuf. Thanks for your videos.

  • Hello Phil,

Thanks for the awesome vids. I sent you an email w/ a question a while ago, donno whether it ever got through. I wanted to ask you, simply how do we determine distances: e.g. that a galaxy is a few light years away, vs. 80 or 100 million l.y. away vs. 13.2 Billion light years away. Furthermore, how are we able to tell that i.e. W Cephei is >1600X the Sun's diameter and would be 3000ly away. How can we be sure it is not in fact much closer and has a much smaller diameter?

  • If you have time for a short reply here in the form of a comment, that would be great. I do understand your time constraints too, whenever you can do that would be just fine. Again, thanks a lot for the wealth of info you keep providing.

  • That's a pretty complicated question. Google "standard candles" and spectral reds shift.

  • I feel bad that you have to put up with people like greenmagoos, jarrawhite, and that dolt straydog, keep promoting science!! wooo hoo

  • asktheastronomerdotblogspotdotcom

( copy&paste in google the above where the dot words are replace with a . )

  • Wow sorry to hear that the Q and A is gone even though you delete my comments from your blog. I'm glad you didn't accept my friend invitation because I would never have such snobby people as a friend. :-)

  • you should download Adobe Premiere - its much faster to edit ^^

  • So I find you and your gone! Life is like this, Jer is a late to everything!!!! Really Looks good! Trust me you look fine in fron of the camera! And movie maker works but just tee's me off sometimes!

  • What "excuse" do you offer for SCFilms Apollo 15,16,17 DVD box sets "rover traverses between stations" being all "audio only"?

Don't tell me they were unable to film while travelling by rover because limited clips are on the A15 and A16 efforts on U-T.

No matter how many billions you have to play with when your filming on a soundstage a "continuous" filmed rover run will be nigh on impossible.

  • greenmagoos, that's pretty funny. An astronaut jumps vertically about a foot, and you claim it's a trampoline? Try listening to what Joe said-- he claimed astronauts jumping *20 feet*. That's what I responded to.

  • "Try listening to what Joe said-- he claimed astronauts jumping *20 feet*."

How 'bout you try listening to what Joe said, he told you 20 feet was an exaggeration. His point was they were suddenly able to jump great heights. Quit dodging the bullet and pay up. And seeing as you're still with us, how about you tell us all why you wont talk about Operation Dirty Trick?

  • It may or may not be "trampettes" Dr Plait during the joint gymnastic display of Young and Duke but I would bet a million dollars that John Young? was being "yanked" up by some "trickery" during his solo performance. His last vault is most definitely not "natural"!

BTW James Webb resigned four days before Apollo 8,the first manned mission to allegedly travel through the Van Allen belts.

Pay up please! Or at least grant me the courtesy of accepting my video response.

  • You owe eric a million bucks buster. He found the trampolining clip at the ALSJ.

I've just posted a video response. Please pay attention to what you said during your Moon Hoax debate with Joe Rogan.

At's at the end of my video.

    Cash please not a cheque!

  • LOL .. Hey green, I think that you and eric should split the money .. He found the ALSJ clip of the astro-actors on the trampolines but you made it famous !

I hope Phil isn't leaving us because Joe kicked his arse all the way to the moonset and beyond in that amazing radio interview where ole' Philly didn't know his arse from a hole in the moonset floor .

  • Ah but remember it was Penn's fault for letting Rogan run riot that day stray.

Funny Penn seemed quite keen to bellow BULLSHIT at the Moon Hoax theory during the Conspiracies TV special!

  • Penn bellowed BULLSHIT cuz that's what he's full of .. and it was all spewing out of his mouth at the time .

  • And he can tell Liar Vector that he owes me 10,000 for proving he censored portions of The Little Gem.

  • Does anyone know if Phil is the gunman at the Johnson Space Center ? Maybe the work load got to him ?

  • It wasn't Phil, they guy shot himself in the head. Phil doesn't look capable of that.

  • I appreciate you taking the time to do the series. Thanks for all your hard work and hope to see you back here soon.

  • LOL. Welcome to my world.

I don't think people really appreciate how much work goes into even the simplest video production. It is a time-eater to be sure.

Good job with the series so far, and can't wait for the "new season". Now go get some work done. That's something I haven't accomplished in quite a while either.

  • Well Phil, good luck with all that you do, and we will dilligently await the return of Q&BA. Thanks for all the episodes so far.

  • I'll be waiting!

  • It really takes you many many takes for a single episode? Maybe you could make a few episodes on the bloopers!

  • Phil - thanks for all your work, here and on your blog. Your enthusiasm is infectious and you have sparked in me an interest in the night sky. I need to save up for a telescope. Take care, and thank-you.

  • i like the clips and don't care about ahhhmmm and oohhhhhs.... bring it back on as soon as possible

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Do you have a famous ancestor? If so, you might be interested in my latest video clip.

  • Thank you for the effort you put into this Phil, I genuinely learn new things with every Q & BA.

  • No worries. We look forward to your return!

  • noooooo, well I'll just have to keep reading the regular BA blog

  • Wow, I had no idea it took Phil 12 hours to do a single episode. Thanks, again, for taking my question on gravity! I hope the planets align for Q&BA to start up again; my horoscope says it will in the near future!

  • Horrorscope? Hope uour being sarcastic,.
