The lion trainer said if his lion died then he would press charges against the director and the company and he even got them to sign it on a legal paper. The mane is a disadvantage as it makes the lion heat up faster and has it more prone to heat exhaustion. The mane doesn't provide any protection for the lion as said by a lion expert Craig Packer as in a fight, cats don't go for that part of the animal, only when hunting prey. It's protecting a place that will never be attacked. Clearly you're not a biologist.
