Man, I am enjoying this. I am in India....as hot and steamy as New Orleans in July. This is my childhood...Rich is right on the money. Thank you RH for this grand sweep of the south.
I never realized Rich Hall was this knowledgeable, I'm studying to become a comedian, and if anything I produce in my presentations is half this good, I'd get a job teaching my own classes.
Love this but Rich Hall is wrong about Mark Twain being a Northerner. He was born and raised in Missouri and didn't move to Connecticut until much later in life. He probably got it mixed up because Twain did bum around the Northeast from ages 18 to 20 before becoming a riverboat pilot.
@memphistim2001 Twain spent his later life in Connecticut, it was his "literary home." Yea, as a child, Twain grew up in Hannibal, Missouri. His uncle was a Senator and newspaper publisher from Alabama that actually had Northern Sympathies. Maybe that's where he got it from.
Great stuff. The Sam Shepherd reference is brilliant. And spot on. Just one point - "The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter" is an outstanding novel, although I suspect the film, which I have never seen, is very syrupy.
It's wierd to watch him talking about heat with the Snowflake button on

He's a genius. It's not often when someone says something and you think 'I could not have thought that.'

How many guy-oriented films are there where the one semi-important female character is "8th banana"? I don't hear him complaining about THAT.

To anybody who knows: 2:50 how much would that house cost? As I understand it, you get like 10x more space for the money than in England :|
