@IdleProductionsVideo I know he's back and what? They've done nothing - only some gigs inn 2009 (actually, they were great) and a song called "Fool's day" in 2010 (also great, but we all were waiting for a new album/EP). Nothing more! I really love Blur but I think their story is ended. Just a great band of nineties, those times won't repeat.
There is no great escape. With Graham or without him :(
i don't get all the hate for this song and album. i couldn't listen to it because i thought i wouldn't like it. for like four years. then i listened to it. and was jeez this is good. like its not even one of those "alright well i can see why people don't like this" albums. it was amazing from started to finish. MAYBE a few bumps here or there, but overall amazing. listen to sweet song if this is your only exposure to that album.
I'm saying, band rocks so hard, green electricity emanates from them and throughout their immediate vicinity... Ok. But the electricity turns into and angry electricity monster? Come on!
i think it would be perfect song if it wouldnt have that annoying voice. he kinda ruined ''plastic beach'' song with similar voice. but thats just my opinion ;)
At my school there were votes for what song to play on the announcements before class started. Crazy beat played for more than 70% of the days out of the school year =D It was awesome.
@Zutara4eva12 You should see Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey from The Who. They are almost 70 and they are still playing like when they were like 30.
Can't believe Blur fans actually disliking Think Tank... Geez. I don't want to discredit Graham, but this album is one of their best in my opinion. Modern Life Is Rubbish and Leisure also. Heck! They only have best albums!
this is Albarn in his prime. i love the britpop and Blur and Coxon and all, but Albarn's stuff got really good in a sophisticated way after Gorillaz. the britpop stuff was fun, but the real music started when he began experimenting. then came Gorillaz, Think Tank, The Good The Bad And The Queen, and more is coming very, very soon.
@elmanana1000 i don't actually like those. the problem with albarn is the way he works: mail music and democrazy suck, but his studio albums are great. what he does is he makes a shitty demo and then works on it such a long time that it becomes perfect. just compare "i need a gun" to "dirty harry". i don't like his experiments in democrazy or mali music, but what they lead to is awesome. journey was just not my thing
@busyak yeah what you said about democrazy is probably right because that is pretty much what a demo is and with damon albarn there is probably at least one track you dont like because of how experimental he is
the songs have become a bit angrier since graham left (not that i mind really, i actually like better) sounds more like gorillaz ( again not that i mind)
blur is the only band that rocks hard enough that the electricity around them goes out causing mayham, the manifests itself into a demon that destroys a bar
I don't think Graham was more important than Damon, same as I don't think that Damon wasn't more important than Graham. They were equally important in the way they influence one another, and steer the song to what it can become. With this song, it's Damon getting his way and doing his thing, but not getting that - to Blur - important influence of Graham. And that's what's missing in this song, despite it still being good (to me).
It's weird...this to me sounds more like a Graham Coxon solo effort (bar the synthesised 'Crazy beat, crazy beat yeah yeah yeah vocals), but, there is no Graham Coxon.
Coxon was half the best thing about Blur. The best thing about blur was the creativity, which only really came from both Coxon and Albarn. When Graham left, the balance shifted, and you lost half of their sound.
@Nekhben1 I've got a question: are there any Blur's songs in which there wasn't Coxon? I know Coxon left during the recording of Think Tank, not after it.
@subjectinchanging Most of Think Tank is missing Coxon, aside from Battery in Your Leg. Think Tank is a good album, but it's not really 'Blur' as a result of his absence imo.
