I saw Gloria in a small club in Astoria, I think it was called the Nite Cap in 1975 or 76. A guy in the audience called out between sets, "Sting Me!". And Gloria was so cool. /She laughed real hard and said, "Yeah, I'll sting you, baby!"

@XCutePupa Actually, looks and sex appeal have always played a huge role in show biz - back to the days of vaudeville, etc. Along with that, there have always been attractive people who were also very talented. People with less traditional looks have always had a platform too. They still do. Lady Gaga and CeeLo immediately come to mind.

@XCutePupa There have always been scantily clad women N show biz. Busby Berkely dancers, Josephine Baker, Cher, Betty Grable, Carmen Miranda, Madonna, Tina Turner, etc.

There's always been bad music too - good music is what endures - it's what we remember but I have many albums from the eighties & seventies that R just awful. Good music is still around, U just have 2 look 4 it - but with the internet it's not that hard 2 find.

It's on top of the GE Building in Rockefeller Center, NYC. The open-air deck is now called Top of the Rock, and it's the best view in all of the city (better than the Empire State Building). Go up sometime at twilight.... fantastic.
