Not sure if my comments are posting, but...

When Hovind says that if God sees animals eating each other, pain etc, as "good", that then he and Ross have a diff God, he is, shockingly, totally misunderstanding God's END purpose. Duh, obviously God doesn't like pain, but it is a direct result of human decisions and choices. He allows it because He knows it is "the best way possible", as crazy as that seems.... Hovind (and yes Ross too) use too much circular logic... (cont)

Okay... well I have to post this because... well to be honest I am disappointed when coming here and watching this and the comments on the video and reading the description. So I apologize if I seem angry, but I will say I do get upset and I hope everyone considers my reasons carefully. First off... you have to admit that Dr. Hugh Ross never personally attacked Kent Hovind in the debate. In all the videos I've seen he's been ready to listen and resists personal attacks.

Good debate here between a few of you. I would like to say a few things...

First off, and most importantly, Ecoi1 said it best: what is important is the Cross-- it doesn't matter what age one believes the earth/universe to be. Christians need to get away from the borderline hateful sentiment that if one believes the universe to be billions of yrs, that that person is a non-believer somehow... if anything that person is just confused(cont on the next.. alas, we don't get much room)

Next... Hugh Ross doesn't support biological evolution... Also... the phrase "May God bless the Young Earth Creationists !" really troubles me. That's not Biblical at all! No no no! May God bless everyone that believes in His Son Jesus Christ. It is in Christ that we are saved, not in what we believe about the age of the Earth. I know Kent Hovind and Ken Ham say that an Old Earth perspective has a different god. Well that is not Biblical at all...

I have spent a great deal of time evaluating my position. I've looked at the Biblical evidence as best as I can and the scientific evidence as best as I can. I prayed to God for guidance in this decision and over the course of months of research I re-affirmed my position (I am still open to objections). And most of my friends are Young Earth Creationists... If I had to pick a view on what would make people accept me most, it'd probably be Young Earth Creationism, but I do not.

I think you believe the earth is billions of years old out of fear. Fear that there is scientific proof the earth is billions of years old. There is none, actually the opposite. There are mounds of proof the earth cannot be billions of years old and scientific proof the earth is less than 10,000 years old.

The sad thing about this whole debate is that it was so one sided. People claim that this was moderated in a neutral environment but Ankerberg and Dobson are hardly neutral but blatantly pro-Ross. The very producers of this show have been known to bad mouth biblical creationists. Hovind was getting tag teamed by both Ross and Ankerberg, albeit in a subtle way.

the main problem in the church today is people like Kent Hovind who refuse to get out of their bubble. They assume that the INTERPRETATION we've interpreted for two thousand years is the only way to look at it. Genesis leaves it open for a variety of interpretations, we need to stop calling people heretics and non-christians and simply come together because fulfilling the Great Commision is all that matters not if Dinosaurs died or not.

that is because you are reading the shallow interpretation of the bible, you are using the bias that has been programmed into you through thousands of years of assumptions. 1000 years ago you would have told me the bible clearly teaches the Earth is flat, when it obviously doesn't. And the simple fact is that if you believe that Genesis can only be interpreted to say that the Earth is 6000 years old, then either the bible is wrong or God is decieving us, pick one lol or open your mind.

I will say I do think Hugh Ross did an excellent job for the most part ^_^. I personally see no credible evidence given by Kent Hovind, but that is what I've evaluated from this debate. And I apologize for all the comments, but I felt led to post. I hope everyone considers what I said sincerely. If not, then that is your choice. This issue is extremely complex and in a human sense mysterious. Both of these men have very large assumptions regarding the formation of the universe, etc. It seems both of them are hesitant to say "I don't know". The Hovind guy is in jail now for tax fraud. One of the things Jesus clearly indicated we're supposed to do..."give Caesar what belongs to Caesar..." Sounds like he believed in some of God's word, not all of it. I think both of them need to say "I don't know" more often.

Putting the Bible and billions of years in the same context is impossible, and if you try to find all kind of ways of doing that, i don't think you could blame Hovind for it, for not knowing what Hugh Ross is talking about :)) !!

Good analysis. I like Hugh Ross but what he teaches is very questionable. He's trying to harmonise parts of evolution with the Bible. And we all know evolution is backwards to God in every respect.

Kinda off-topic but, whenever I watch this debate I notice how Hugh Ross blinks a lot. Does it help him think or something? Haha. ^_^
