If they were to remake this game, I'd prefer that they either do a PSP remake like they did for FF1 and FF2 (which I thought were beautifully done), or a PS3 remake. I just hope that they don't do what they did to FF3 and FF4. I really don't like that style.

As for the song. I preferred the music of the SNES, but the vocal phonics and lyrics were indeed better on the GBA.

I am fond of the memories of the classic dialog... it is hard to accept, but the new one is... better translated. Like, what exactly is 'Ere I walk away? The dialog between Draco and Ralse is just unsingable in the original. If you hear the Dear Friends, Distant Worlds, etc, versions, you would agree.

But still, Oh my hero, far away now, will I ever see your smile... brings more sweet memories than this... Can't decide

The DS version would rape this game like it did FF IV. But other than an ethical standpoint, on the practical side it would be practically impossible to fit all that customisability into a 3d game for the DS. All those multiple endings and sidequests with different main parties would require countless redubs. The GBA versions were really good, but Final Fantasy VI deserves a PS3 remake if your going to push another one so early.

I never saw the Advance lyrics, though I think that's what they used on Distant Worlds (could be wrong).

The timing is most certainly better, the odd part is they changed the one line that fit in the old one. "Will not age a day," fits a lot better than "Will never age a day."

I'm more partial to the classic SNES version myself, but it's hard to deny that this is well done.

While the timing is definitely better, and the voice MIDI is far better... the lyrics just don't strike the same feeling the classic ones did. It's not just nostalgia either I think.

The SNES version is much more saddening to watch, while the GBA lyrics seem a bit too formal.

Nonetheless, it will always be a great scene.

The GBA lyrics fit the timing of the music better, but I think the content is terrible. The SNES version is heartbreaking - Maria must reconcile her love for Draco with the realities of her life. When she tosses the bouquet of roses over the castle wall, she's symbolically letting go of him. It's perfect.

The GBA version isn't so bad until the last verse, which undermines the whole rest of the aria as she basically says "I feel all better now, thanks Draco!"

@Marc516 It goes with the damn translation hogs these days, hell the original english version is damn near the same. To me as long as it's coherant and goes with the scene to be close to what the original is without typos etc then I could care less for a literal translation (FF8 etc) still you can't go by the book in some languages (cultural difference/marketing) because to some who aren't heavy JRPG fans they wouldn't like it. All in all you can't appease everyone.

After seeing this version and having grown up with the other version, I say both are roughly equal, if vastly different.

The lyrics of this version match the words and rhyme -- you can actually sing along to this. It's not completely different from the version that is already known, and many people like the fact that it also managed to maintain the meaning of the original FF6's scene.

I still like Woolseys translation but this is the proper translation of the opera and to be honest its lyrics are beautiful and for all those who say the sound isnt as good as snes, honestly to me it sounds pretty close to the original which is a very good thing. What a way for the GBA to go out with one of the greatest games of all time... Final Fantasy VI.

The lyrics in this version fit the flow of the music much better than in the SNES version. I've been trying to fit the lyrics for the SNES one into the melody, and Celes' singing, but it just doesn't work without clipping words off.
