There are at least five studio versions of this song by Lisa Germano: an early version released as "Dresses" in Spring 1993 on the PAR-Spectives #1 compilation, the one in this video (which I think is identical to the one that Capitol released as a CD single), the one on the Capitol version of the Happiness CD, the very different one on the 4AD version of Happiness, and the one on the Inconsiderate Bitch EP (it's the 4AD Happiness version with an intro featuring humming machinery). Confusing!

This version is NOT Capitol version. I've got Capitol records version and it sounds different. 4AD version is completely different too. Seems to me this is video/single only version which hasn't been released anywhere.

very very nice...you will find this version on her first release of "Happiness" from Capitol Records. On the 4AD version of Happiness, there is another mix, which i think is not as nice as this one here.

Yes! I argued with a DJ about this. I told her the version she was playing (this one) was nicer than the one on the record. She insisted they were the same. I thought I must be nuts (which is still a possibility).

firstly the song/album is not from the 80's but early 93 (Capitol) and rereleased in 94 when she was signed to 4AD.

secondly she does play the violin, guitar, piano, etc. ,though her last couple of albums have less violin and more piano/keyboard work than her earlier solo work.
