  • ack, it would be perfect if the piano wasn't vibrating/echoing so loudly (sorry, I'm an aspie)

  • omg 3:39......

  • amazing voice !!!

  • I listened to this tape. ( yes I said tape) back in the early 90s back when I was in middle school. Reminds me of those fond yet difficult times growing up. Tori's music was a solace for me.

  • Great song

  • How in gods name can this have 'any' dislikes.?!

  • I love the Beatles album Abby road. But I love Tori more. she is so amazing.

  • GOSTEI DE UMA PARTE QUE FALAR SOBRE O AMOR.

  • EU GOSTEI MUITO DO VÍDEO E SOU MUITO SUA DESDE QUE TER VIR.BEIJO DE JOSILENE

  • @Dollashlong Are you nuts?! she's so beautiful. both outside and in.

  • I first listened to Tori after reading that Neil Gaiman, author of The Sandman, was a big fan and a friend of hers. Since I usually cringe whenever I hear a "singer/songwriter" on piano I didn't think I would like her, but I think she has a fantastic voice and love her songwriting style.

  • @BobaBaggins i think you would like fionna apple "never is a promise". it is so beautiful, simular to this, but with an orchestra, and a jazzy tone

  • Talented but...not going to win any beauty contests!

  • @Dollashlong I think she's incredibly gorgeous :P

  • she didn´t need playboy or something else to be successful. REAL Talent

  • @FreeWinSlave I completely agree. It is not hard to see a beautiful soul in those eyes.

  • I saw Tori when she was just starting out at an aucostic concert with Neil Young, she hadn't really had a name yet. I was appalled that everyone in the huge hall was yelling, "We want Neil, we want Neil", when if they would have known anything at all about music they would have shut their mouths and listened to the amazing voice that was trying to sing over their voices. The combination of her and Neil made for one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

  • @mguidone100 Thanks for sharing your experience. What I don't quite understand is the timing of this concert. If this is from 1991, and her first CD Little Earthquakes came out in 1992, why would she be headlining this concert ? Wouldn't she be mostly unknown at this point? Just curious.

  • Reminds me of being 13 and listening to my brother's copy of this. I had to pretend to not like it because we liked to irritate each other. I didn't understand the lyrics but the piano and melody hit me like a train.

  • Unbelievable!!!

  • Brilliant, beautiful, amazing!!!!!!

  • SHE'S AN REAL ARTIST!!!

  • much love

  • i like her hair here better then i like her hair in her newer videos

  • Polluxaks4...if you were really a man not " little boy" u might realize what she is singing about.... its not just the beauty of her voice that others respond too . It's the feeling... that a woman has that many women can relate to, I being one that was silent 20 years.....the song reflects a heartbreaking reality for so many women...

  • @POLLUXAKS4 lol u mad?

  • @POLLUXAKS4 Look dude, your opinion is yours, I'll give you that. But you don't need to come on here and attack, and I'm sure plenty here will agree, one of the greatest singers of the last 25 years. Keep your hate where it belongs; off these videos.

  • @POLLUXAKS4 Your mad.and really shallow.if you could go a bit deeper you might hear your own voice.

  • @POLLUXAKS4 lol go to one of here concerts, won't find many kids there. just life fans in their 20s-60s. believe me she is quite a woman. she has been playing piano for about 3 decades, and singing that long too. rolling stone has certified her as an artist of the century. if your "turned off" then go look at the pretty women in lil waynes videos. im sure they will turn you back on.and she is playing/singing RIGHT HERE, in THIS VIDEO lol. trololololol i enjoy feeding you though.

  • To all the people replying to @POLLUXAKS4: Let idiot trolls be idiot trolls. He obviously has no taste, so we should pity him and move along.

  • This is amazing!

someone once told me that some singer sings by heart

    i was like..r u kidding?

    now i understand

  • Damn...I'm straight and married 15 years but..... ok I can't say no more...

  • beautiful!

    the song is addictive! ^^

  • What if?

  • @boburiinchankludho Too true. I really like that song but this is so much better.

  • What a beautiful visual and audio experience, thank you Tori, you're my GODDESS!

  • where has this voice been my whole life?

  • ..hi..

  • ..hi..

  • ..still can only grok 1/2 of what she says..but Tori has a lyric to explain that..

  • @cScruffy Tori was in The Parent Trap. The twin that played the piano. She disappeared cause she went to England, Ireland and France in 1958 for a quick tour and whatever. It was said that Hayley Mills played both parts but it wasn't true. Silent all these years...is about multiple personalities used for "a means to an end." This one doesn't work...maybe this one will. Note the nodding of the head down into sleepiness in various vids. Someone died A spot on tv mite bring an explanation

  • ..still can only grok 1/2 of what she says..but Tori has a lyric to explain that..

  • Had to much to little!

  • I love tori amos but she pauses too much... looses the effect...

  • @magichounddog

The pauses are part of the effect--builds tension beautifully. But everyone has a different perspective.

  • Hammaaaaaa die lady!!! Krasssss ;))

  • Sometimes...I hear myself! I hear myself. And I am here Silent all these years.

  • @TheBethany1991 one of the most quotable...so you've met a girl who thinks really deep thoughts, what's so amazing about deep thoughts, boy you best pray i bleed soon

  • One of the ones,Only one, with hair like fire, from deep ocean eyes, and sky soul!

  • I am a mermaid! :)

  • TORI AMOS recalls her bout with an MTV "Unplugged" taping. Read more at The Worst Gig (WorstGig.com).

  • @jsniccu VERY cool.

  • 28 people need to remain silent all these years

  • ah, so tired.. Eyes wanna shut, need to sleep and I can't peel myself away from this video.. so stirring x

  • man.. i've never realized how beautiful she is..shame on me..

  • @originalfakeism she really is.. never realized it myself until this, very much a beauty.

  • @originalfakeism i cant decide if Tiffany or Tori are the reason i love redheads

  • magical. she is.. mesmorizing

  • I love the power in her piano playing. You can hear someone else play a piano but she has such her own style, its intriguing how someone can put so much in their music and yet some people over look all the emotional aspects. she is so connected with her music.

  • this video in HD:

    /watch?v=OFRErgvV6ac

  • ...often listen in past times...

  • amazing

  • just like Tori,i am also a rape victim many times over,i look up to her for Silence All these years,THANK U TORI,for speakin up for us victims/survivors

  • This song explains my life, and I didn't realize it until now. Irony?

  • @AyameO843 Sure... if you are about to die, or better yet dead.

  • @Holomounza Sorry, your statement doesn't make sense to me. Either way, it's a good song.

  • @AyameO843 of course it doesn't...

  • Thumbs up if you think this song is about the people you know underestimating you and not knowing what really goes on in your pretty head.

  • @DeltaDawnMarie If anyone agreed with you, they'd give you thumbs up anyway. Stop begging for it.

  • She's amazing! Proud to be a fellow local resident

  • years go by/ will I still be waiting/ for somebody else to understand ...so nicely put

  • I had the DISTINCT pleasure of meeting Ms. Amos way-back-when when 'Little Earthquakes' first came out and she was doing the college circuit and performed at Northern Illinois University (I gave her roses!). A few years later I won a radio contest to meet her again in Chicago (and she remembered me (apparently I was the first one who ever gave her flowers!). I absolutely adore her and her music! This will always be one of my all-time favorites!

  • @loganoneil1 I'm so damned jealous... next time you see her give her petals from me please. This woman rips my soul apart in the most perfectly beautiful way.

  • Thumb up if you know the pain. This song...helped me survive.

  • It hard to hear Tori do not adore

  • One of those perfect songs where your exposed heart is both bleeding and on fire when listening and you just know it's the same for Tori playing it and that makes it even more amazing. Wish there were more artists like her these days.

  • Outstanding talent

  • This and "Winter," two of the best on the planet.

  • Truly one of the most interesting an talented artists ive ever heard, first time I saw her I was mesmerized! So much of todays music is manufactured in the Hollywood music mill, true and talented artist are so rare, but here is one!

  • Singapore Singer " Yan-zi Sun" she's cover Silent All These Years

    youtube.com/watch?v=to7d7qamvig&feature=player_embedded

  • Tori at her best. Very little has remained of this brilliance, sadly.

  • @eriramizi stfu

  • @ProfessionalWidow83 I concur.

  • Comment removed

  • @lartencrepsley17 wait, who do you concur with?

  • @ProfessionalWidow83 I concur with thee.

  • @ProfessionalWidow83 People who use text message language to express their opinion are plain pathetic.

  • @ProfessionalWidow83 People who use text message language to express their opinion are plain pathetic.

  • @eriramizi okay.. not pathetic. I was trying to be as polite as I could. But hey, shut the fuck up. Better?

  • tory ur the best!

  • Breathtaking....and her music is quite enchanting too

  • sounds kinda dumb, but she makes me cry

  • she is one bad ass! love her

  • absolutely amazing talent...songwriting, singing and piano!

  • This song is based on Hans Christian Anderson's version of The Little Mermaid. (Just some food for thought). Beautiful song! :)

  • very good

  • her voice sends chills through me

  • her voice chills me

  • I grew up listening to the lovely woman.

I believe this song is about her ordeal as a rape victim.

Tori is 48 yrs old now - how time flies for us all :(

  • one of the best song ever^^

  • She is amazing live! I saw her for Choir Girl Hotel, To Venus and Back, and then in '09. She is just as amazing as I remembered her 10 years ago. I love you Tori.

  • she is incredible in this video...I wish I had seen this live...

  • she's originally for North Carolina, represent!

  • @danpats1 haha! i know that's right! tarheels represent!

  • It is said of Tori Amos that she doesn't practice a song. She walks on stage and makes up the song and the piano keys without thought and Tori may never play that piece again. This trait is shared with Diana Krall. Diana went on stage, without practice, and the band was extremely nervous because they didn't know what to expect except to "blend in". Kate Bush never practiced either but each piano piece was composed on the spot. Strawberry Sharon did the same with guitar playing when composing.

  • @iriswigle kate bush did practice, a lot! she said so in a 2005 interview

  • @iriswigle

Lulz. She's played this song live hundreds of times. She didn't make it up on the spot.

  • I can't listen to this song without crying. She's incredible.

  • hey thank you for the Besureis music share they are good. Stop by and check the current tune wheel of fortune at my channel, I have a couple of tunes you would like I think. I love tori too! she is so good!!! (~_^) ciao

  • It's hard to listen to this song without crying. Tori sings and plays so beautifully.

  • I love it :-D

  • 他唱歌好瘋

  • this song is about an abused girlfriend?

  • Luv it!

  • Oh my Tori Amos. A girl with beauty and artistry. What more can I ask for?

  • it's really appeal to me

  • thumb up if you realize that you've watched this so many times today, and you have to stop watching to do sth else...but you just can't stop.

  • i can watch this thousands times..and actually i already did.

  • she looked so beautiful here. this is when i started listening to her in early 90's. I dont like her plastic surgeries. she doesnt look like herself anymore. I still love you Tori.

  • i love that the audience doesn't scream every 5 seconds. i wish i could have seen her back then!

  • tori keeps me sane.....thanks lady we are all excentric and we should be loved for it never made to feel like a freak just because we don't have to fit in a simple smothering role for our selves that kills our souls

  • tori keeps me sane.....thanks lady

  • tori saved me many times... thanks so much

  • love her! we seriously need music like this back!

  • @svengaligraves13 ...lolwut?

  • In 1000 years when they find this recording they will cry.

  • the ultimate talent.

  • Redheads...

  • Redheads...

  • i cant believe she can stl sing after wat happend to her! i mean she was raped and she is stl so strong! its amazing. she is such a good rolemodel

  • @ZarathustrasCrown Are you sure? If you learn, say a few chords on guitar, the correct notes are already in the chord figure, both hands work together- on the piano each hand has to be pretty much independent. Hard for those of us who can't chew gum and walk up the stairs at the same time. I think guitar is more linear than piano, it is like 6 keyboards stacked and if you master one string, the rest gets easier. Way more people used to play piano, but now more play the guitar.

  • i bet she liked it. :)

  • I shiver and It's not cold...

  • Hello !! Check Mathilde Renault's music, you might like it !

  • I think she's a beautiful woman

  • "Well I love the way we communicate"... She`s so shimmering! This is just PERFECT.

  • what can i say but ridiculously brilliant :)

  • Nothing can be said but amazing

  • eaglerocktv

  • hipnotyzujące, magnetyczne...

  • I love this song it always seems to tell me how i feel that day.

  • Little Earthquakes saved my life. I love Tori

  • People underestimate what it takes to play an instrument and sing at the same time. I know how hard it is, and it amazes me when someone does it as smoothly as Tori.

  • @laulbow This is what separates Tori from the everyday "Joe" or "Joan". Her ease in playing the piano and singing at the same time is rare. But we have to remember she was put here on this Earth to sweep us away with her talent. :)

    Woohoo Tori!

  • @laulbow

Totally agree 100% she is amazing and anyway that can play and sing at the same time deserves big respect

  • @laulbow It is extremely hard. I play drums and mastering singing and keeping a beat is tricky. lol Tori is amazing :)

  • @laulbow

Really appreciate how comfortable she can be and turn to the audience, completely foreign to a structured "address" at the piano. Shows talent and comfort. Natural...

  • samsung galaxy ass

  • She's been inspiring me for 11 years now, and it's funny to compare the feelings through the years. When you go from 15 to 26 the way I have the shit and the pain yet beauty it all delivers at once. She was once my only friend long ago. Now it's all broader and shared in front of my eyes now. I love her very much, and I can't see how anyone can't. Unless for laughs, but no she's the real thing. Period. Very personal stuff too like she could sing about having a period.

  • i wish i could play the piano, they make it seem so effortless and easy, beautiful,

  • @ChloeDust Then learn :) truth is piano is probably the best option for someone learning, all the notes are set up one right after the other in easy to reach order...no wacky chord shapes to worry about. If you wish you could play it, then learn...anyone can learn how with some effort.

  • Beautiful song.

  • This song is great! I heard it over and over again and never got tired. Tori, the girl you're singing about you made her heard. She may be silent all these years but her unspoken words will remain forever in this song. There're lot of us in this world are silent. Many preferred silence over existence, may be acceptence. Thank you Tori for reminding us of that moment.

  • I've been hooked on Tori since 91...wow

  • the best part is on 2:30

  • She totally brings out the tension!!

  • i have never loved her more in 15 yrs! shes amazing!! deep/lyrics....soulful!

  • My god the lyrics of this song...amazing. I never get sick of it.

  • wow, she is totally amazing!

  • She 's like the Kate Bush of the nineties

  • Is she hiring any bench cleaners?

  • Her voice is soo soothing. Luv it!!

  • Love her voice. I saw her in LA around the time of this recording. During every song the audience was completely silent. Not a whisper could be heard. We were all mesmerized by her. One of my favorite shows of all time.

  • @MrDlcunningham That's right...one could hear their heart beating the tension was palpable. This is Tori at her peak.

  • Love her. Tori's been playing the piano since the age of two. Composed her first songs at five. Damn.............

  • Dam shes got style!

  • it,s wonderful, where is she from?

  • oooohhh, TOri. I do love her work.... I always wanted to emulate her work via canvas and then realixed it didn;t require emulation

  • Love your voice, love your hair! :)

  • i'm in love !! c'est tout !

  • i'm in love !!

  • She's using the piano intuitively like a part of her body. That is the point where you really can express yourself through an instrument. Direct transmission between emotion and instrument, that is the highest level of musical performance reachable. Perfectly presented here. Likewise Louis Armstrong had similarities between his very own singing and his trumpet playing style. I wish I could reach that level on drums...

  • Excellent!

  • Tori is the only singer I hear using vibrato when breathing in *_*
