The BBC tested a Dorset Naga for one of it's programs in 2006 and the result came back at 1.6million SHU.

unfortunately they did not submit the results to guiness world records, but then again even at 960,000 it is still the hottest chili in the world.

PS i have eaten a big fat juicy fresh red one too and swallowed, but i have developed a tolerance to capsaicin from eating too much hot food and too many chilis

As an avid chili lover it's great to see someone else eat and warn me against this thing.

I just wish you would give a bit more insight/history about the chili - i.e. where's it's from, what it's traditionally used for (in cooking) etc. It'd be a crack to watch you try and explain/read this info while the burns still killing :P
