  • you can feel they haven't played together for 15 years

  • LEGEND.....

  • Please everyone here, STOP with that "Phil's BigBand" or " Nothing without Hackett and Peter"...

Peter wasn't in the band for a veeeery long time and from all these Live Versions I have heard, Phil sung this Song ALWAYS better, even in this Live Version, the Three Sides live Version is far from the world :D

And Daryl plays different for sure and while it doesn't always fit, like in Firth of Fifth, his faster playing fits perfectly to In the Cage. I wish they would tour again :(

  • This was definitely the best of the Genesis songs. It was the first one I ever listened to when I was 8(or younger). I relistened to this song so mnay times. I thought that one day the tape would break. JUST FANTASTIC. :)

  • Genesis exist with Steve Hackett...

  • There has to be a way to block these comments. Just watch the video and listen to the music. If you like it, fair enough. If you didn't, turn it off and don't come back. I'm sick of reading pretentious nonsense from know nothing individuals who think they know something about music. You bore the arse off me, you brain dead morons.

  • I love the passion of this audience. Good choice to put this one on dvd.

  • I can't take people bashing Phil for driving Genesis into thrash. First of all i don't agree, lots of the later Genesis was very good. Sure some of it was crap, but even though there wasn't much prog left, most of it was still good music. And Mike and Tony wasn't being dragged by Phil in any direction; they all (like since the beginning of Genesis) had the same share in songwriting. So stop trashing Phil, he's a far better musician than any of you will ever be.

  • @RectumPilum The purpose here was not to say that Phil Collins is not a good musician. I have more against these stupid videos the group appeared in at its later stage. Maybe if they'd spent more time on their music rather than videos, there would have been no crap at all.

  • That 50 second part of Cinema Show, the line they play twice but the second time with the Mellotron, is the most beautiful piece of music to have ever existed.

  • Such a great concert the sythensizer guy looks serious but hes rockin out man

  • @nathanwtp95 "the sythensizer guy"??? *grins*

  • It's not likely we will see Peter Gabriel with Genesis again. Too bad. Phil Collins brought Genesis at its worst in some occasions ; when I see Banks and Rutherford in 'I can't dance', I get sick. Boy do I miss the Cinema Show and Watcher of the skies era.

  • @stopvideosplaymusic Funny enough most of the sound change in Genesis came from Mike and Tony- not Phil. Frankly I love that Genesis cant be pinned into one category. Their music spans different genres like Rush or Queen.

  • can you see any of todays so called rock stars being able to generate an audience of 500,000 people in 30 yrs. Genesis Wera and will always be one of the greatest

  • Sarei davvero curioso di conoscere quella ragazza inquadrata al minuto 07:08 :) nei suoi occhi si intravede l'amore per i genesis!! Grandissima!! :)

  • i love the way they slip into cinema show

  • Genesis Six Hours Live 1972-1980 2DVD set, Genesis The Lamb Live at the Shrine 1975 3-disc 2CD/DVD set available at Tommygun Video, please see our Youtube channel for link to site/clips/more info

  • Phil just announced ,he was completely retired from music ,cant play drums because of a medical condition,he is devoting his time to his kids and writing a book about the Alamo ,for which he has the most extensive collection of artifacts in the world ..he really is into the Texas revolution , he was told he is a reincarnated Alamo defender

  • I walked a LONG way from my home to Walmart to get this DVD when it first came out. Smart move, since now it's hard to find. It's a great DVD.

  • amazing version XD

  • Esse video é show de bola, esses caras são ótimos.

  • collins ins the best vocal of all

  • I think that Genesis' early material really benefits from the modern synths and sound systems. It sounds way better than the album version - of course, Phil sings instead of Peter Gabriel, and he doesn't deliver the same artistic vision that Gabriel originally intended.

    Still, fun to watch!

  • 8;15 brings back the memories!!!

  • Sounds like a different key than the original.

  • @artgonewrong Same key- I'm pretty sure but several bpms slower... Dunno though- just woken up :)

  • @artgonewrong Yes! the entire set was downed of one key due to phil colins voice deepening of the years

  • This concert was awesome!!! :)

  • Man, I would love to get this on Blu-ray.

  • @ErickSartorelli There is no Blu-ray release of this concert.

  • you can say what you want about Daryl Steumer, but whoever you are, that final part gets your head going no matter what!

  • awesome, went to see them at twickenham, brilliant

  • Collins is no Gabriel

  • @onealreid1 Of course, He is even better!

  • @onealreid1 - Understand - that is like saying Lennon is not like McCartney. Peter and Phil are 2 different styles, performers, writers. In a perfect world, we'd have them both up there and still touring.

  • @onealreid1 And Collins is not trying to be Gabriel

  • @onealreid1

I get fucking tired of hearing that. Can't you enjoy this show at all? You moron this is fucking great!

  • @onealreid1 You think? mmm...You are a genius,

  • Fantastico!

  • it's funny how the keyboard patches tony is using for the chords is perfect and the lead sound is awful, at least in the 80's both parts were awful but here it sounds like he finally decided to bring back the hammond and mellotron but stuck with a roland d50 for solos, but what an awsome performance this and carpet crawlers i have to say phil always did much better than peter

  • LOVE Tony Banks' solos. Trying to learn the "Cinema Show" one right now for the guitar. It's a challenge to be sure. :)

  • And also Riding The Scree after the Cinema Show solo

  • And also Riding The Scree after the Cinema Show solo

  • Thanks for posting this quality video, haven't heard anything this good posted by anyone other than tommygun.

  • Unbelievable they killed this song so hard 33 years later without Hackett and Gabriel!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I like the old Genesis songs perfect

  • The keyboard solo in this song is absolutely mesmerizing. Im still in a hypnotic state.

  • Разноцветная и прекрасная музыка ...!!! Это просто великолепно ...!!! Ура Дженезису...!!!

  • ++++++++++++++

  • Class is ageless and timeless.

  • Only thing i don't understand is that the song is supposed to illicit this incredibly uncomfortable feeling of claustrophobia, of being in a cage.

So why show a guy running free the whole song? Great concert though!

  • @shire2005 If you notice the red bars that the person is running behind it appears that he is in a cage, i too didnt notice it till later, but the person breaks threw the cage after a while.

  • @devilmaycry1112

    Thanks..

    Fucking great song!

  • Ich durfte es sehen...und es ist der Wahnsinn! Genialer Song

  • This means how Peter Gabriel was such a GENIUS!!

  • @NUCCIOCONTINI56 THIS!!!!!

  • @NUCCIOCONTINI56 ewwwww

  • This is one my favorite songs to watch from this show. The effects are mind blowing, and Phil does a pretty good job. Though, Id prefer him on Drums and Peter on Vocals again.

  • I think this was the definitive Genesis tour. :)

  • My gawd they sound as good as ever and Chester Thompson is just fucking awesome!

    What an incredible band!

  • Genesis forever! :D

  • Good song

  • Good Song.

    Good Band Phil Colins Awsome.

  • cool thanx

  • Their music just gets in your soul and it never goes away

  • Iam A drummer,Janned with Phill Collins.

The Song in the Cage,is awsom.

    I was stand by drummer.

  • Awsome song

  • vorenus and pullo are such good characters in this I really enjoyed the show - its online at romestreamsonline^dot^info

  • Question: why does a band tour for the first time in 15 years, and...do the almost the exact same set list?

  • They didn't. Not even close.

  • Sure they did. The obvious, safe choices from Duke, Genesis, Invisible Touch, We Can't Dance, plus the tired ol' In the Cage/Cinema Show medley. The only surprise was Ripples...

  • @kirklott

man the surprise genesis playing the music, 15 years latter of his separation

  • @kirklott Good point. Ripples hadn't been performed since 1978, during the And Then There Were 3 tour (and, to a lesser extent, during the 1980 Duke tour). But it's a good setlist nonetheless.

  • @kirklott

Because it's easy. Have you seen Yes' set list lately!?

  • This is like listening to Pink Floyd without Waters and Gilmour, like listening to Rush without Lifeson and Lee, like listening to Yes without Anderson and Howe, but this has been a beautiful performance and a good one after all, quite an effort for the great Phil Collins band ...

  • This is like listenong to ELP without Emerson experience pionner moog king of progressif rock anti commercial

  • Thanks rubiks for completing the sentence and the whole meaning of my thoughts, you're damn right !

  • Go get a life all of you Gabriel and prog-rock widows. This is great stuff.

  • Prog Rock Widows, That's a good one !, Ohhhhh how much I wish the Great Phil Collins Band would've played Karma Kameleon and Can't Hurry Love again for you Newly Wedds, you would've loved it, isn't that right ! Wish you the best in your new life cause ours is just Magnificent, because We're still married to Prog Rock ... Cheers!

  • @MNori

I LOVE the fact that people are still quarreling about Gabriel or Collins. It means that, 35 years later, they're still relevant and we still care for the band, isn't it great? :)

  • beste cage version überhaubt !!!!

  • once again a shame the end gets cut :-(

  • Just got the DVD!!! I Love IT!!! :D

  • One of the most exciting stage acts ever.

  • Lots of energy. And love Mike's chucka chucka guitar in the middle!

  • demonios esos sintetizadores digitales ya no dejan apreciar el sublime solo de banks en in the cage!!!!!!! pero aun asi esto es sorprendente!!!!

  • There is such chemistry between these guys onstage.

  • I prefer the barking sound of phils drums ( 84,87 and 92 over the sound from the reunion tour, but still a great show

  • Where did you get this DVD?

  • I bought this at Wal-Mart, it's an exclusive there.

  • @ZEPPELIN198, I've got this too. And I'm glad I bought it the day it came out; June 10, 2008. Now, the only places you can find it are in select Walmarts and the Internet.

  • @Emilyt329 its called amazon my friend! or if u live in england anywhere!

  • I refuse to die until I see a Genesis reunion with Steve and Peter!!!!!!

  • now that there being inducted in the hall of fame theres hope yet

  • They would have to stick with chester for a drummer though, since phil collins can't play drums because of an injury

  • given that chester has been playing with both the band as well as phil's solo tours since the early 80's id say that wouldnt be a problem, hell, he's practically as much a member of the band now as chuck levell is to the rolling stones

  • @ZEPPELIN198 Which means goodbye to the drum duets :(

  • @ZEPPELIN198 Which also means goodbye to the drum duets. :(

  • @chriskoob Now all that remains is for the band to be knighted (including the former members - Steve, Peter and Ant Phillips - and yes, even Ray Wilson)

  • 500.000 + people there... amazing

  • at least the guy in behind the cage lol

  • Este tema, me encanta. Me vuelve loco.

  • @

    a97129

It sounds like the album version. i dont hear diffrents.

  • It's a pity they change the pitch from the original. Guess the guys are getting older.....

  • it did sound like Phil was not singing as hard...

love the tune ... but they did lower it - good ear!

  • Changing pitch is not a crime. There are many others to do this. Of course these guys are older now, but they are still great. And Phil wants to save his voice, he sings in a key where he feels comfort. As a singer, I have to say that this is very important. I think his technique of singing is better today and after all this is the best live version I've ever heard! Relaxedbut still with the energy it needs!

  • i want a reunion with peter and steve!!!!!!!!!

  • Awsome Phill Collins megga Star.

  • Man! Tony can SHRED on that synth!!

  • I got to see them at the Old Trafford Ground in Manchester on the british leg of the tour, AWSOME.!!!!

  • I wanted to go to this concert soo much!!

  • Love this song, and I loved watching this whole thing on DvD. Really awesome what they do with the backround lights. They don't sound as good without Peter though xD

  • I had my eyes closed for a bit but during the light show I was watching and letting the music just soak in. Gotta love that mellotron sound

  • It must be confusing to play this song in a lower key after Tony & Mike had played it in the original key for so many years.

  • I love the medley with Duke in it, and it actually works with the dropped key

  • I WAS THERE !

  • Oh thats my favourite song of that concert...its just perfect!!! xD

  • me too!

  • absolutely perfect :)

  • mmm....genesis...mmm

  • Thanks for posting this. I attended a show in their tour last year. Any change you could post afterglow which is the conclusion of the medley?

  • I was actually thinking about posting Afterglow. I posted only what the dvd listed as part of the medley. I'll probably post within the next couple of days.
