@christopherdaniel79 I'm guessing that going to HD required far too much computer power and expensive cameras. By the time that it became realistic to do this sort of thing in HD, you also had enough computer power to do all-CG ESPN Axis-style effects for less.

I remember this. So impressive then. Still impressive now.
After spending so much time and money developing it, why did they stop using it?
I'd rather have this than 3D, whether in NFL, rugby, football (soccer) or any other sport.
