Man o war is the best. What up with secretariat man o war is the best. Man o war won easily every race. People don't know cause there isn't enough race footage of Man war but he clearly is the best horse ever. It's all about MAN O WAR bitches
American arrogance? Dont havr me bring up ww2 when u worthlesd italians were on the losing side so changed sides like cowards. Lol im sick of people coming on youtube(made by us arrogant americans) and talk shit bout the greatest country. Italy has no right to talk shit bout anybody else. Greatest racehorses r the American racehorses. Secretariat would destroy any bullshit italian horses.
The American arrogance and ignorance is famose . If a horse wins in USA, without ever leaving his country, it automatically becomes the best in history. Out of your Truman Show , out the Hollywood movies , in the real world, everyone knows ..the best horse ever (gallop) is the Italian " RIBOT ", the best trotter ever is Italian " VARENNE " the best jockey ever is the Italian " FRANKIE DETTORI." All people can check these names on internet and make an assessment of the results.
RIBOT, gallop. 16 races, the most important in the world. 16 wins, 100% of wins, record speed.
VARENNE trot. 73 races, 62 wins, 9 placings. Record Speed. Seabiscuit 83 races 33 wins. To be the best horse you have to run more races in the world. Italy, France, Germany, Sweden and beat horses of the Queen of England. We have respect for Seabiscuit, but it'S just the best horse of the united states
Seabiscuit was an extraordinary horse. He really became a symbol for hope under the depression. A tiny horse with crooked legs, which he also broke, all four of them, but managed to recover and race again.
He sure was a miracle.
I know quite much about Seabicuit and the people around them, but their stories still brings me to tears.
My moms thourobred appolusa (idk if that how to spell it) was related to seabiscuit man o war and war admiral along with secretariat etc. He was suppose to race but he was cow hocked this video just makes me soo proud of his ancestory lol he's a great horse to he loves to run even more he loves to buck xD
Was it really true that War Admiral was 18.1hh and Seabiscuit was 15.1hh??????!!!!!........maybe The Admiral ws all body and stumpy legs!!!!!!!!. Oh!; and for all the people who reckon their nags are related to The Biscuit;Racehorses are so interbred anybodys horse is probaly related to him!
Seabiscuit was just barely 15 hands, The Admiral was 15.2. It says so in the book by Laura Hillenbrand. The two were both small for racehorses, but Seabiscuit was very very calm while th Admiral was high strung and spooky.
what a piece of history to keep.ill take it with me to my grave.the debate notwithstanding i would have loved to touch any of those two wonderkinds and wouldnt have minded to be a piece of shit the next moment
seabiscut pulled america thru the great depression..an american hero..i only wish i could have see him race..the "little"horse who didn't know he was litte..all heart..goatman
HMM,so you can name some horses that you consider to be better then WA ? that didnt win the TC. thats great. but the key to that staement is that they didnt get the job done. bottom line WA is apart of american racing history. sure a horse can win the big cap twice. or a breeders cup race twice. and thats a great feat BUT you only get one shot at the TC and you ether show up or you dont. and he showed up and got the job done. but then again you did say you were biest.
so your telling me that war admiral who won the triple crown. somthing that only 11 horse have done in american racing history. is not better then seabiscuit. if you think that then i got some water i want to sell you.
wolf had to whip Seabiscuit just to keep him up. war admiral had just turned around and the race had started. just like how upset beat man o war. war admiral was the better horse just look at how wolf cut him off at the start.
this was the first race seabiscuit ever ran without a starting gate, while war admiral raced many that way and was by most accounts the faster starter of the two. advantage going in, war admiral. seabiscuit beat him off the line...guess he was just more amp'd to run. war admiral was a great horse but obviously seabiscuit was the better horse.
ok i dont know as much as ya i guess but jus from lookin at de videos he doesnt seem in bad shape, couldnt been that bad to be so so good, he was unbelivable !!
i love the way seabuscit seems to slow down then runs wit war admerial til de home straight and after a whip, takes off frm WA, wat a ledgend he had hearth, he wasnt ugly or badly shaped , he had what he needed, intelligence and hearth!!
Actually, both Seabisuit and War Admiral (one of the smallest Man O War sons) were about 15H. One can see from the actual film they were the same size. Neither does the film mention they were related. WA was a direct son of MOW while SB was a grandson.
I know what happened to War Admiral at the Belmont. I said he had heart. I just think Seabiscuit had more, much much more. He was ugly - he was built low and had forelegs that didn't straighten all the way, and yet he had wings on his feet. It takes a lot of heart to get world-class speed out of a body like that.
And if you think about it, War Admiral's strategy was always to go straight to the front and never relinquish the lead. Seabiscuit managed to outrun him right off the line. And when called upon in time of need, War Admiral just couldn't make it. War Admiral had heart, and he showed it in that race, but Seabiscuit was just clearly better.
It's not fair to look at Seabiscuit's race record, he was mishandled and abused by the top trainer in America! How can you expect a horse to run well when he's miserable and overraced, as Seabiscuit was? His wins improved dramatically when he was bought and rehabilitated. He smashed world records and won against the odds. This horse is the superior one in my opinion.
Now is the time for all of us horse lovers to step up! Thousands of horses are being slaughtered right now in the US for human consumption.Even Racehorses and pregnant mares are killed. USDA studies show over 92% of horses slaughtered are healthy and 3 out of 10 contain unhealthy chemicals.
No matter how much I see this video, that little horse amazes me. So much heart for such a little horse. This was WAAAAAAAAAAAAy before my time, but it gives me goose bumps everytime I watch it. Just like watching the great Secretariat race..........
i agree that seabiscuit ran an amazing amount of races. horses back then lasted a lot longer than horses today. also, racing is a lot more about breeding today, so a lot of horses retire to stud very young once they've won a few big races.
Amazing Carly! You really have talent of putting music to videos such as this! Love it! Seabiscuit, I think is great than War Admiral he proved so in his race winning by 4 lengths and setting a record is well..I don't knwo the word but you get what I mean right? lol =D
oh i see, the biscuit is a great horse. i can't imagine that he ran 89 times in his career, it's just unbelievable. he's one iron of a horse. not like other horse's today, some are great like barbaro but they're just too weak and get injured easily. he also pulverized a triple crown champion like war admiral, such an amazing horse seabiscuit was!!
The reason Seabiscuit wasn't rated any higher is because he was a west coast race horse and they weren't as popular as east coast horses. Weather War Admiral was tired are not....Seabiscuit did set the track record and it was on War Admirals home track.
Get the book by Laura Hillenbrand.. Best book EVER. It has everything in it. I just finished it for the third time. I *believe* it was 1:36, a record that he broke later in his career.. I THINK. I'm not sure though. He had so many records
GREAT VIDEO CARLY! I respect Seabiscuit a lot. I only wish the movie would have focused more on him than on the numerous side stories. I did feel bad for War Admiral though. i believe that he was a more talented horse. He was actually voted the 13th greatest thoroughbred of the 20th Century. Seabiscuit was voted the 25th. War Admiral seemed to be tired during this race.
No. War Admiral was superior. This race was the ten one he ran that year. He was clearly tired and just didn't have anything left for the stretch run. Seabiscuit was a fine horse. But he lost 54 races in his career against 35 wins. He was out of the money a lot. W.A. was never out of the money. However, W.A. was 15.3 hands tall. The movie made him out to be 17.
WA owners would never race him unless he was in top condition, which he was that day. Seabiscuit passes him in the beginning and he lost his heart and gave up. No my definition of talent.
You are totally wrong about WA. He had tremendous heart. For example, in the very very beginning of the Belmont Stakes, he landed awkwardly and tore off a third of his right shoe, yet still went on to win the race and the TC in dominatiing fashion
He didn't just give up. he ran as hard as he could for as long as he could. Even the great ones can't win all the time. To use your philosophy, it means that every time a great horse or sports team lost, they simply gave up. That's crazy!
Well, you can clearly see he did give up. Even in vivid accounts from the jockeys, they say they could see it in his eyes. Seabiscuit won that day, and in my eyes, was the better horse. And for WA to be placed higher on the top TBs was for his foals, not for his racing ability.
About him being placed higher because of his foals is simply ridiculous. 3 members of the all time top ten were geldings for Pete's sake! In addition, Seattle Slew, who had 120 Stakes winners is placed 9th on that list while Citation who had only 12 is placed third. If they rated by what you think, Slew would be #1 and Cy would not even make the top 1000!
Fantastic! This wonderful, COMPLETE race footage has a lot of historical value. Seabiscuit was truly a legend with a TON of heart, and his career race record certainly shows it. I have this footage as well, and will be posting it for those who want the option to hear the racecall and crowd without the music [no offense]. Nevertheless, 5 stars. Take care.
